Not anti Spurs per se but down the years the Sky Four have benefited from refereeing bias.

Clearly visible again tonight in the Goon game.

Smoke, fire...

No. Traditional winners get the calls in any league, be it the Premier League, the La Liga, the NBA, NFL, MLB etc. Pundits will always give the big clubs, Real Madrid, Barca, ManU, Yankees, Dallsas Cowboys, Celtics and Lakers more airtime and the benefit of the doubt. To get the calls, you prove that you deserve that benefit on the pitch, field or court and then all of the sudden you are getting the calls. It's not a conspiracy but human nature.

I believe there is - its not premeditated but certainly there is an strong unconscious bias to keep the focus on the BIG clubs. These days its Chelsea, Manure and Man City. The plastic fans are still around in droves. There are cocksuckers in the media who cant help but focus on so called glamour clubs because money means everything. They are selling Harry off to Real Madrid as we speak. Liverpool and Arsenal still hang in there because they were prominent for so long and even though both clubs are becoming shadows of their former selves there are enough pundits kissing ass out there as former players, that its all overwhelmingly Arsenal this and Liverpool that in media land.

Best thing for Spurs is to do our own thing. Become consistent, become part of the top 4 furniture so they have to acknowledge us. Win a trophy and they'll have to start rimming our asses. As far as I am concerned, I am happy the club is not part of the inner circle. We can create our own history from here onwards. We can create our own glamour that isn't based on oil money or illicit gains bank rolling success or in Manures case - the Ferguson effect which has created an army of plastic fans worldwide.

We don't need these useless ****s to acknowledge us. We know what we stand for.

The only conspiracy is what generates the most money. Nobody reports on football to "be fair" they report to make money. So there is a bias because how to profit from football news is biased. But there is no conspiracy.

My theory is that when we are in a position that would generate a whole lot of money, the media won't get enough of us. For instance when we are actually top of the league for a few weeks, I'm sure we won't hear the end of Spurs this and Spurs that. There is a very media friendly story to sell about Spurs, but it presupposes that Spurs actually is number 1, and not only pushing a little bit from behind somewhere.

So how do you explain the creaming over Liverpool, Man Ure and Arse in your theory?

No there really isn't, every single club thinks the world and his wife is out to get them. It's all very RAWKish and embarrassing.

Are there though? Are people anti Spurs, or just not pro Spurs. There’s a distinct difference there. We all see things through the eyes of fans. The pundits and commentators don’t. I think a lot of people see that as anti Spurs or bias, when it’s more accurate to say that it’s a balanced opinion.

Look at the stick Rachel Riley got last year, when she asked if we’d bottled it. She wasn’t saying anything that any other neutral onlooker wasn’t thinking.

I agree with the first paragraph, but Rachel Riley was idiotic. She didn’t ask if we’d bottled it, she called us proper bottle jobs. She did so in the moments after the final whistle, with Spurs fans already seething at the performance.

One loss in the midst of an incredible winning run, away to a rival who always up their game against you, is not bottling it in the slightest, and to say so is incredibly disrespectful not just to us but also to West Ham. She may not be anti Spurs, but to churn out a lazy cliche in a totally inappropriate way was disgraceful, especially for a purportedly intelligent woman.

As a presenter on a football show there is less onus on her than the pundits to give opinion, but she still has a responsibility to approach things in a thoughtful, dignified way, her comment showed her to be no better than your average drunk ingrate down at the pub, and that person has no place presenting a football show, neither does Rachel Riley. Your average drunk will also get far worse abuse than a few crude/ sexist remarks on twitter, and not be paid handsomely for it either. In that moment she was basically Paul Merson packaged in the body of a supermodel.

And that leads me to her worst offence. It’s not that she belittled us, it’s what it did to several competent female voices in Football and Sport in general, people who have faced genuine obstacles to be taken seriously because of gender but who add genuine value to football media. Gabby Logan, Claire Tomlinson, Georgie Bingham to name but a few. Rachel Riley, with that one sound bite, damaged the progress that women have made in football media, showing that the best route to presenting at the top table for a prime time, key match is to be a size 8 bimbo with a nice chest. This is made all the worse by the fact that she is actually intelligent, a Maths graduate from Oxford. Sadly this didn’t stop her behaving like an attention seeking, uninformed cretin, but I guess being clever doesn’t necessarily stop someone being ignorant.

Regarding this point

"Sky/ BT are trying to sell our players.
Etc."

There is certainly some truth to it, and the majority of the written press love to peddle it.

If Arsenal get another piss easy home draw I’ll start to think something is going on

That's already happened about 100 times in the last decade..so I don't think the next easy gooner draw should be the straw that broke the camel's back.

I don't believe there is a Spurs conspiracy, but common sense and history tells us that organisations run by old white guys of limited talent but with a hunger for power and free buffets often use questionable means to maintain their status quo. Given the amount of money the FA and Prem chiefs are holding onto I can't imagine they're squeaky clean..

I'm off to shout at traffic..

I don’t think there’s an anti Spurs conspiracy, but I do think there’s been a lot of disrespect from certain areas.

That Leicester season, players and managers were coming out and saying after matches that they would love Leicester to win the league, even though they were yet to play them! That’s massively disrespectful, though on the flip side, they possibly would’ve said the same thing if any other top team were challenging Leicester. But can you imagine the fuss Mourinho would’ve made (which in turn means the fuss the press would’ve made) if it was Utd?

Also an ex (non Spurs supporting) colleague of mine was a mutual friend of a couple of the journos on the Sunday Suppliment and he said a couple of them would always try and stir the Spurs rumours for a giggle even if they were completely bullshit. He didn’t mention names at the time but he said they were West Ham fans so I assume one of them was Martin Samuels. This was a few years ago, how true it is who knows - it’s certainly believable if you watch the show. But I imagine the Utd supporting journos probably do the same about Liverpool and vice versa etc, so it’s probably not any one team singled out.

Tony Gale hates us with a passion but he actually said yesterday that he wants Kane to stay at Spurs for the rest of his career, which was a nice surprise. I think it pained him to say it though because he felt the need to remind the viewers that he wasn’t a Spurs fan.

So I don’t think there’s any conspiracy, just a few Spurs hating twats (including players) scattered around the industry that find it difficult to accept we’re rather good nowadays.

At the time of writing seven people think there's a conspiracy. If they actually truly believe it then that's staggering. Lets assume one or two are just voting for kicks, that still leaves five people roaming free among us who are a danger to themselves and society. I urge you to turn yourselves in. Feel free to be served one last time by Elvis down at your local Macdonalds, but do give yourselves up.
It's 26 now, as a mod I feel you must have the powers to identify these people and hand email/ip details over to the authorities.

While there isn’t a conspiracy against us, there are journalists who obviously dislike us and are guilty of either fabricating stories in their entirety or twisting facts deliberately negatively. I’d bracket Paul Jiggins, Neil Ashton and John Cross amongst these.

Then there are people like Darren Lewis and Shaun Custis who, while not anti Spurs, are just a bit dim really and unable to comprehend a club steadily developing greatness. These types have no agenda, they’re just sucked in by the hype they themselves created around the money clubs and are continually surprised that we compete with/ often better them.

I would say No not completely but there are certainly people in the media and papers who do not like spurs or basically love to write and talk about how spurs need to sell players etc. It's a bit like how they are with England, they are ultra negative and just stir shit up as it gets more headlines.

Annoyingly as well spurs have been progressing without spending the insane amount of liverpool, chelsea and man utd. That should be discussed more and bigged up but it just seems that even when that does it's about 5 minutes and then it's onto the next article about how Kane will go to Madrid along with every other good player that we have. That gets better back pages and attention so it's written about it more, it's probably why people think there is an agenda against ourselves.

This comes up every year, and it makes me cringe. People on here talking about a conspiracy to keep the “Sky 4” successful and to make sure the likes of Spurs, Everton, Accrington Stanley etc don’t get a chance to win things.

I’ve seen reasoning from -

We play after our rivals, it’s not fair.
We play before our rivals, it’s not fair.
There’s too many Arsenal types on Sky
There’s too many Liverpool types on Sky
Sky/ BT give too much positive coverage to the money clubs
Sky/ BT are trying to sell our players.
Etc.

Personally I think it’s a load of bollocks. There’s no conspiracy at work, and it’s the kind of thing we would completely rip the piss out of if someone said it on RAWK, Redcafe, or Bluemoon.
Accrington Stanley? Who are they?

I think we get overlooked in the press at times because of the many years of mediocrity we went through.

I still don't think people see us as one of the big clubs even though we've consistently finished above lots of the 'big five' in the last few years.

If Liverpool had a player like Kane, for example, journos wouldn't be talking about him 'having to win trophies to be considered world class', even though Liverpool have won nowt since 2012.

I don't think it's a conspiracy though. I just think people see our sensible wage structure and our relatively low net spend and don't see us in the same bracket as the more moneyed clubs. You'd have thought that might have started to shift by now, but I think unless we win the league we won't be considered in that group of clubs by the press.

Daft? Yes. Conspiracy? No.

Strange that as I've seen him in the Beehive on match day, drinking with some Spurs old boys.

26 people who don’t know what a fucking conspiracy actually is. Either that or they actually, genuinely, squeeze yer left bollock and cover it with tin foil believe that the media have all got together and arranged to be collectively negative toward Spurs. The agreement is written on parchment in goats blood and was thrice rolled up and poked up Daniel Levy’s Bumhole during the autumnal equinox.

One or two biased pundits is not a conspiracy. Twenty eight pundits who don’t talk sense is not a conspiracy.

Fuck. Me.
