Strange that as I've seen him in the Beehive on match day, drinking with some Spurs old boys.

He went through a stage of being co commentator on loads of our matches (streamed) a few years ago and it was difficult to listen to. When the main commentator would say something positive about us he would always counter it with a negative. At least he was consistent I suppose. He used to slag off Lloris loads too, way more than is acceptable considering how good he is.

There were rumours that he was friends with Redknapp and didn’t like how the club treated him but he’s been having sly digs at us on Sky and TalkSport for years. He probably hates Chelsea and Arsenal too so I’m sure it’s not just a Spurs thing.

I didn't like the way Redknapp treated us
and I frequently bang on about it.

And that leads me to her worst offence. It’s not that she belittled us, it’s what it did to several competent female voices in Football and Sport in general, people who have faced genuine obstacles to be taken seriously because of gender but who add genuine value to football media. Gabby Logan, Claire Tomlinson, Georgie Bingham to name but a few. Rachel Riley, with that one sound bite, damaged the progress that women have made in football media, showing that the best route to presenting at the top table for a prime time, key match is to be a size 8 bimbo with a nice chest. This is made all the worse by the fact that she is actually intelligent, a Maths graduate from Oxford. Sadly this didn’t stop her behaving like an attention seeking, uninformed cretin, but I guess being clever doesn’t necessarily stop someone being ignorant.

Anyone who dismisses the opinions of women in general because one woman said something slightly dubious isn't worth worrying about. Riley's comments only affected the standing of other women in football in the minds of idiots.

She didn't say anything that was especially bad, unfortunately we're just no better than any other club when it comes to having a section of fans who are incredibly precious and don't like people stepping on their ballet pumps. She was naive (or possibly not, if Sky were going for the Talksport approach of saying deliberately idiotic things that will get the chimpanzees screeching) to think making those comments wouldn't be turned into a massive deal, but it was still stupid for anyone to get upset about it.

With regard to conspiracy theories - no, we're not the victim of a conspiracy theory, and if there were any conspiracy theories then we, as a big, London-based club with a successful side, would be one of the teams most likely to benefit. I assume the people who are crying their eyes out that the press are trying to sell Kane to Madrid have just as big an issue with the press trying to sell Barkley to us?

26 people who don’t know what a fucking conspiracy actually is. Either that or they actually, genuinely, squeeze yer left bollock and cover it with tin foil believe that the media have all got together and arranged to be collectively negative toward Spurs. The agreement is written on parchment in goats blood and was thrice rolled up and poked up Daniel Levy’s Bumhole during the autumnal equinox.

One or two biased pundits is not a conspiracy. Twenty eight pundits who don’t talk sense is not a conspiracy.

Fuck. Me.

Language Timothy!

No anti spurs conspiracy. But i do think that for Sky, talksport etc it is all about money. The more money in the game the better. Therefore there is always gunna be more coverage and excitement towards any club that splashes the cash.

I 100% agree with your first paragraph. Sadly, she’s in an industry still very much haunted the spectre of chauvinism so rightly or wrongly her comments will have fanned the flames of a very common, very harmful mindset.

I disagree that it was stupid to get upset about it. Stupid to throw abuse public ally, yes, but in the same way that we get upset about Kane being linked away after every game, nobody taking our title challenge seriously or pundits openly saying we don’t pay enough, we have a right to get upset about that because it’s a slight against our club. Football is tribal, it generates the money and press that it does because of an emotional, verging on religious attachment of fans to their clubs and she made an inflammatory comment against us. To say it’s stupid to get upset about it is tantamount to saying it’s stupid to love your football team. I accept that not everyone loves their football team, some just follow a club and enjoy watching them, but those who do love their football team will take insult to comments like that.

Yep, never said it was a conspiracy. I voted no. Was just pointing out about Gale not liking us. Doesn’t make it a conspiracy, just a bit of jealousy really.

No, but if I ever have to listen to Alan Smith's anti-Spurs commentary ever again I'll vomit.

I answered the question but was wondering why Jazzmaster rated it as spam? Could you clarify why it was not to your liking and maybe advise me on where I'm going wrong. Thank you in anticipation.

Saying it's stupid to get upset about one person's opinion is not the same as saying it's stupid to love your football team. She was entitled to have that opinion, an opinion lots of people have. I don't agree with it, but it's still fine for her to think that. As for the last bit - being unable to control your emotions doesn't make you a better or purer fan than those who can.

Don't think there's a conspiracy. I do however think there is a bit of disrespect and jealousy.

A few times I've been in a discussion with other fans of other clubs and I sometimes get a negative response about us when I mention that I'm a Spurs fan or start talking about us and these comments come from supporters who would have no reason to dislike us Huddersfield, Leeds, United, etc. Some of these fans can be very dismissive of us and it's hard to understand why.

However, I have had plenty of compliments from other fans to balance it out. A lot of people have even said that Spurs are their second fave team. A lot of Europeans I speak to like us too and choose us as their PL team.

I do know where the hatred from Liverpool comes from and it's purely based on envy.

I used to work with this guy during the early Redknapp years and he never had an opinion about us, certainly nothing negative. Then as soon as we started getting CL football and they fell out of these places, all of a sudden he started having a big problem with us and started the whole "it won't last, you're just a little club" etc. I see him post on social media and it clearly still aggravates him, quite funny and sad really.

I can imagine that this feeling is shared amongst most Pool supporters and probably pundits alike as they know we have essentially taken their place. I do think that Souness and Carragher are very fair towards us - McManaman, Thompson and the moron army not so much.

I don't think there is a conspiracy against us, however, I think there is a definite bias in the media for clubs like Liverpool and United but I think that's because they simply have a bigger following than us and they are catering to the bigger fanbases rather than them actually hating spurs and having it in for us.

It's pretty clear the media is an old boys club, they have their own individual biases and they clearly dislike spurs being in the position we are because it is a threat to their own clubs, I think it comes down to the fact that we don't have many pundits who are spurs supporters so it feels unbalanced.

A lot of the younger pundits are better, Neville, for example, is pretty good, the fact is though, you will never agree 100% with everything they say because we, ourselves, as supporters, have our own biases as well, I used to sit here and get bothered by what the pundits would say, I still do sometimes, especially with the constant talk of us selling our players but the truth is, we should take it as a compliment, they are afraid of us and if anything, it's an acknowledgement of how good we have become, basically, fuck what they think.

I do feel like the Leicester season was suspicious for a number of reasons and I don't think it has anything to do with us, I think that if you put any team in the position we were in it would have been the same for them as well, it seemed like every club, every supporter and every media outlet was rooting for them, it was extremely unprofessional and the level of bias was evident for all to see, unprofessional? Yes, Conspiracy against us? I don't think so.

I also have my suspicions about HOW Leicester found that kind of form and maintained it, that is however what would be considered a conspiracy as obviously, no evidence exists to prove it so that's just my opinion.

I do feel like corruption exists in football, to think otherwise is naive in my opinion, no business in the world that generates this much money is free from corruption, however, I do not feel like it is only affecting us, therefore I can't say it's some great conspiracy.

So basically, TLDR, no.

I think the simple fact is we'll never be a 'top' team in the eyes of other fans and media until we've won trophies on a regular basis. Once we've had a few years of winning then other fans can't say shit and the media as a whole will most likely be loving us because we'd be winners. Also, the papers won't be selling all our players every week.

We just need a few years of winning various trophies (easier said than done, obviously) and any talk of a conspiracy will be laughed at. Jealousy (and to a lesser extent, disrespect) will always be there from sections of the media and opposing fans but that happens to all winners.

I don't think there's a conspiracy. But naturally there are issues in the media. Their main focus will always be money so they need clicks on their websites.

As there are a high amount of Utd,Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal fans they will always get a lot of stories. Same as a blockbuster film will get more attention than an indie film.

As our net spend is regularly around zero we often sell first and buy later. So there will always be focus on us selling. Hasn't stopped them continuously talking about us buying thelikesof Leandro, Barkely etc though.

The media can also be very lazy. Journalists are under pressure to put out a certain amount of stories a day. Working for the likes of the Star you need a certain amount of website hits a day or you'll be out on your ear.

So journalists put out lazy cliches regardless of the situation. I remember Redknapp on punditry responding to us being "soft Spurs" asking if us having Sandro and Dembele centre mid was really that soft.

Next we became bottlejobs. One of my friends said we bottled it last season. I asked how winning 12 out of 13 league games at the end was bottling it. He suddenly understood we hadn't bottled it at all.

Rather than concentrating on the poor stories people really need to search out the best journalsots, websites etc for information.

You are making yourself dumber if you read the Sun or listen to Talksport. Treat these sites with contempt and never listen, buy or click onto any of their content.

Look for the good media, it does exist.

Yes, there's some truth in that, except....

Every club's fans, including Man Utd, City, Arsenal, Liverpool etc...are convinced that the media have it in for them. Just have a quick glance at their forums. It's always the same story, there and here.

No matter how many trophies they have between them, their fans are convinced that their club is unfairly treated. I've lost count of the number of times I've read about the Tottenham love-in, how we are the "media darlings" and other such paranoid crap of exactly, precisely the same sort that we dish out all the time.

It's the nature of being a supporter, because like it or not, the ones who are biased, the ones who prefer one club to another, the ones who consistently pay more attention to what's really going on in one club than another are us, not the media.

Does anyone really believe we are singled out for different treatment from everyone else?

There is clearly a conspiracy against us, you have to be blind not to see it. Every summer Richard Scuadmore, Martin Glenn, Greg Clarke, Barney Francis, Gianni Infantino, Sepp Blatter, George Soros and Jacob Rothschild all meet together in a secret location under the moonlight to discuss what can be done about, as they call it, the "Tottenham Problem". This conflict is deeply rooted from the early 90s when the leaders of the group were so frustrated with the poor quality of Amstrad computers they swore to pool all their resources into vengeance.

For years they didn't really need to do anything as the team were poor enough, but we have become too good to not be successful without their intervention. The media and fixture bias is obvious to all, but what is less known is how they injected cartilage eating bacteria into Ledley King's knee, how they hypnotised Robbie Keane and made him forget who he supported as a boy, and how they slipped ketamine into Mario Gomez' water bottle during the 2012 Champions League final.

If this is so crazy then tell me, where is the chef that cooked the lasagne the night before the West Ham game? Where is Juande Ramos' English teacher? Where is Harry Redknapp's dog Rosie? Answer: they've all died in "mysterious accidents", ie - been murdered to prevent the truth from coming out.

Don't be a sheep. Wake up.

I’d hardly describe being upset as being unable to control your emotions so I’m not where you grabbed that idea from, especially as I had already agreed that those who through abuse at her were idiots. I also made no mention of what makes someone a better or worse fan, merely pointed out that some people feel a deeper emotional connection than others. A lot of those people will be worse fans, fans who pitch invade or get into pre arranged fights with firms. You’ve inferred a lot that I haven’t actually said.

I grant that I made a comparison which was lazy regarding what calling someone’s reaction stupid then translated to, I apologise. It’s still wrong to say that getting upset over her comment is stupid. Being abusive is stupid, and vile too. Getting upset, regardless of her being entitled to her opinion, is not stupid in the slightest.

There are more Arsenal, Yanited and Pool pundits because they are the three most supported clubs. think about how many Spurs pundits there are compared to say City ones. There are certainly individuals in the media that have an axe to grind(and do), but there's certainly no big conspiracy.

The media outlets are selling their product and they know what creates ratings and brings in income. It may seem like more, but making money is their only agenda.

Arsenal have more supporters than us?
