It's been refuted by the OPLC but I don't doubt it's true I've been saying West Ham would win it as it's the easy decision and nobody will have to face difficult questions.
It's not the best option for athletics, the country or London but it most certainly is best for West Ham in fact it's an absolute heaven sent opportunity for them and in ten years time when there has been little or no meaningful athletics events at the stadium the case for removing the track will have been made, ten years after and the Olympics will be ancient history so athletics uk will have no argument for keeping it.
Trust me that is going to happen it was always Gold & Sullivan's plan which is why they're happy to promise anything now and so all those that think they are going to laugh at West Hams ground with no atmosphere think again, as I said months ago, with this they will become the third big London club challenging Chelsea & Arsenal and if anyone thinks differently they must have their head up their arse.

I think you've got the 100% the wrong way around. The proposal as it stands virtually seals West Ham's fate, it could be the end of them.

The other side of that coin however is that perhaps Sullivan and Gold will sell out to a billionaire playboy, in which case game on. If they find someone with serious dough to purchase the club then that same someone can probably foot the bill for putting in retractable seats or whatever...

Without him though, they are finished.

Then how come Newcastle aren't challenging Chelsea and Arsenal instead of us? Who's got his head up their arse?

Seems Spammers fans aren't sure about it either. Sort of split over on KUMB.

Last time I looked 75% were against it! On SC it's almost the opposite. Still their fans aren't daft enough to shoot themselves in the foot with protests

If we had put a bid in with a running track im sure more than 75% on here would be against it. I know my vote would have changed.

The main reason why some west Ham fans wanted the OS was to stop us from moving in to East London and taking their fan base away.

The guy later on in this clip is not happy about the prospect of using "by-no-culars" to watch West Ham play.

Tell you what, Rory Delap will LOVE a running track round a pitch, the run ups he'll get would be amazing

So...

Back on with the NDP, West Ham doomed to ruin with an unworkable stadium, everyone's a winner no?

NDP, let's make it happen Levy!

How people persist to believe that the NDP is going to happen is beyond me? Its exactly that so much work had been put into the NDP project yet Levy is willing to drop it for the OS that confirmed that the NDP project is a no-go. No matter what the real reasons are behind the scene that made NDP not viable, those reasons will not change because we lost the OS. TO begin with there was no gaurantee that we would get the OS anyway.
My only hope is that Levy and co do not throw in the towel but would look for another possible alternatives to help the club progress.

The reason (if I was a cynic) NDP became unviable was to 'persuade' Tottenham fans that it was the OS or wither and die, credit where credit is due it seems to have worked.

I am not convinced by that view as a lot of effort was put in to try and win the OS bid. Too much work for it to be anything but a geninue attempt to secure a new stadium. Though the NDP may still be remotely possible, I think it is more likely to be an aborted project.

Of course a lot of effort was put into the bid for the OS, Mr Levy wanted it very badly, as it is a new stadium for a lot less money. We were only told in the last couple of weeks that the NPD had become unviable which makes me think that little nugget was put out there so Spurs fans would 'panic' and think it was the OS or nothing. There for not kicking up a stink and making things difficult for him.

Deary me, that's a cynical view of things. Not sure it's entirely without merit though.

Why so few, just a few weeks after myself and dozens of others of members of this forum (and faazends of Spurs fans otherwise) signed a petition at the request of the club itself and sat through about 4 hrs of local politics on a crappy stream discussing the planning permission, seem so keen to swallow the NDP isn't viable at all, it's the OS or nuffink line so readily, I do not know.

Maybe it's all true or maybe it isn't. We've been told nothing - zero useful details as to why the sudden and complete change of plan came about. Just a few vague lines. Let's sit back, not panic, and see what Levy will come up with. He has a plan and the last people to know about it will be Spurs fans, rightly or wrongly.

i don't totally disagree with this, but i do wonder if that "little nugget" was put out there not so much to panic the fans but to put more pressure on the council to help the club reduce the costs of the NDP.

By pursuing the OS bid till the end, Levy showed real intent to move the club out of Tottenham in order to get a bigger stadium.

I'm not saying the OS bid was a smokescreen ( although the cynic in me would'nt be surprised if we deliberatly handicapped our bid by insisting the running track was kept), as i think that if we had won the bid, then Levy would have taken the opportunity, but nor do i think that the NDP was ever totally unviable.

Sugar admitted today that Tottenham were encouraged to bid even though they made it clear from the start they wouldn't keep the track, I think Danny Boy was played at his own little games by the OPLC.

Or Sugar could just be saying what the club wants him to say
