What's new

It was no accident that Partizan's pitch was so poor on Thursday

Doesnt surprise me.

On an unrelated note we really need to fix the text errors when viewing the site on mobile devices. Its making the site look a bit sketchy seeing things like
'accident that Partizan's pitch' on every article.

Not only the pitch was disgraceful, the ref. should have sent off 2 of their players / 2nd yellow cards for deliberate tackles. Lamela was lucky to escape bad injury, Benji also. At WHL we will see how this team plays, which looks to be parking the bus.. and i hope we put 3 clear goals past them...

Wouldn't that involve getting in the last third and having a shot?
Couldn't resist lol. Sure (hope) we will.
Personally I'm giving it 15min and if it's anything like the first game Im turning tv off to do something less painful like putting my cock in a mangle.

I believe it requires an upgrade of the site software to achieve this so this has to be arranged.

on the same theme of prepaired pitches to suit the home team
big sam says that pithes that have been doctored it is the same for both sides as in he let the grass grow longer to stifle our passing game
it worked, you might say that justifies it
but what sam forgets to say is that his team have had the previous week to work on and get used to the conditions
you could jokingly say that you could cover the pitch in an inch of jam and it would be the same for both sides
ignoring the fact that your team has been getting used to the pitch for a week
when the opposition turns up they are lost
you are a cheat and a liar if you doctor a pitch and then say its the same for both sides
sam you are a liar and a cheat

It amazes me that we managed to thrash QPR, despite the fact that they're effing crap. It's so painful watching us have up to 70% of the ball but having next to no shots on goal. Please God let our forwards hit some smegging form this season!!

I agree.. If a club "adjusts" their playing surface, prior to a big game, their players do indeed have a week, and a half to get used to it. So while same for both sides in the game, it is obviously not.. So this is cheating, no excuse, points deducted for the offending club should be the punishment.

I somewhat suspect this setting pitches up to suit the home team is more normal than we think, as not too dissimilar to cricket where home teams openly set conditions to suit their strengths. In the old days this was always part of the 'magic' of the FA Cup when top teams might have to cope with sloping pitches and changing in the car park etc. I doubt playing whatever advantage you can get away with is not universal. If, for example, Wenger was really nice he would grow the grass before playing West Ham to make them feel at home!

Simple. Uefa just bring in a rule that grass can be no longer than say 2 inches. Oh I forgot it's Uefa.

Guess we'll just have to practice on pitches with longer grass.

I think we need to look at ourselves more than other teams pitches.
Do you think Madrid complain about another teams pitch?
Totally agree. We played like that because thats how the players are being told to play.
Keep possesion at all costs.
Play from the back and the goalkeeper must on no account kick the ball out no matter how much pressure your under. This has nothing to do with the state of the pitch. Long grass doesn't make you go sideways and backwards very slowly. It affects the quality of passing and thats all imo. It doesn't stop you trying to go forward and have a fuckin shot.
I getting really sick and bored of this type of football in general not just Spurs. Its boring and counter productive as its easy to defend against unless you have 3 world class Barcelona types. You put yourself under pressure by piss balling about around your own goal area. And if you go a goal behind with 10 min to go then your fu#ked.
Im not sayinv play long ball. Im saying mix it up so the opposition dont know what we're going to do. Instead when Lloris gets the ball the opp just back off, they know he'll never kick it out, throw it to a defender and then push up putting us under pressure and see if we can pass our way out of the mess we just created. Its stupid.
Also we're one of the few teams that can get a freekick 5yds inside the opp half and pass it bloody backwards instead of launching it In the box and let the opp try and deal with it. Just look at the total panic we go into with a high ball.
Theres more than one way to skin a cat.
Btw not knocking Poch. Early days yet. Just hope he can knock this AVB type play out of them quickly.
Apologies for rant but Im sick of it.

Before we declare Pooch AVB II, you cannot let 2 in and expect to win many (Sunderland). We scored twice away - that should be good enough. We need to tighten up.

Europa does not count for me, so the one result that hangs around Pooch's neck is the Liverpool hiding. AVB really could have still been on the bench.
Early days, and he can more than set the record straight against arsenal, but first things first and tomorrow's banana skin needs to be negotiated.

As we played 38 ?? passes to score a goal against QPR the passing game plan does work, cos we bored the opposition to sleep ! ..lol... However i do understand fans impatience of this type of game, as Harry played the swift counter attacking game, we all loved to see. We need to get Poch. the attacking players of quality Harry had, coach Ericsson to emulate Modric, Lamela for Bale..

In the meantime, good teams build from the back, Goalie, CD RB & LB, so our defence is now beginning to look more solid.. MF is not too far away either. Just the forwards needs to be sorted. Harry Kane is 2 years experience away from leading the line, So RS / Ade and new player in Jan. With HK as rotation and impact sub. COYS

What you've said there is exactly why I wasn't happy afoot AVB coming in and why, at the moment, I'm not feeling love for Poch.

I simply don't like 4231, especially when the two aren't remotely attack mined and the three aren't world class.
