I really liked Dawson, i wish him the very best ( tho' not against us ;)) and many years of injury free football.

Great guy - hope he gets a rapturous reception back at the Lane.

Shame he peaked unusually early for a centre back though, and I can't say I'm going to miss seeing him at the back this season.

Steve Bruce is getting a bargain and is developing a record as something of a master wheeler-dealer. For a club with Hull's aspirations, borrowing Livermore & buying Huddlestone last season gave their midfield the kind of control and class that a promoted club rarely benefits from. I think every Hull supporter credited those two with keeping them up.

Now Bruce has equipped himself with a seasoned, knowledgeable defender who has experience of international matches and the Champions League, who knows how to tackle, where to position himself and how to make a clearance, but crucially isn't 35, crocked and past it.

Dawson's lack of pace and especially his slowness on the turn gets exposed against the likes of Aguero or Suarez, but frankly the rest of Hull's squad will also get ruined by players of that calibre. If they can occasionally beat a top 6 club, then that's a bonus. Where Dawson will be invaluable is stabilising their defence when playing against their peers: the other mid-table clubs, who do not have strikers with blistering pace and world-class vision.

And Dawson gets to play every week and be a leader, which will suit him well.

Great player for the club, always prepared to play his heart out.

It's the right time for him to go but even so I will miss awesome Dawson.

Sad to see him go. For against certain opposition Daws will be a big miss.
I sure hope his replacement is already in the bag.

Nice write up from the club - I'll remember his performance against Van Nistleroy at OT a few years back when he marked him out of tev game that day and we got a draw (in the days when no-one got a thing at OT.)
Good luck Daws - top man.

Been lurking for a while, but had to sign up to add my best wishes to Michael Dawson for the future. Like others I won't miss his recent presence on the field, but if ever a player deserved our respect for commitment, loyalty and being an all round good guy, it's Michael Dawson. Give him a testimonial.

Great servant of the Club and a shrewd signing by Hull.
He deserves a great reception when he returns to the Lane.
