I've seen a few posts saying modric/Pav/GDS/... is not good enough for Spurs. My main concern is not with the posters who seem to have little patience with these new players but the club for not introducing new players more sensibly. Why do we never seem to have enough continutity to allows us to bring new players slowly into a settled first team? Look at the contrasts between Bale and Walcott. Wenger used Walcott sparingly last season and gradually brought him into the fold whereas Bale would have probably played most of our games if he hadn't been injured. A better example is probably Kaboul. He was thrust into a defence with no confidence and asked to partner Dawson, who is hardly a old head himself. Even if you're one of the best young defenders in the world you're going to find it hard. This leads to a large proportion of the fans getting on the players back.

The gradual introduction of new players isn't just important to youngsters either. It's also important with people who come in from abroad. Very few players adapt to the premiership overnight and it could take Modric and Pav months. I think sometimes we forget that these guys are moving there whole lives to a foreign country where they may not even know the language. Surely it would help them to be brought into an 11 where the other 9 are settled at the club and used to playing in the first team together? One could also argue that we still have to introduce Bent, who until this season, has hardly seen any first team action, into the starting eleven.

Anyway, here we are thrusting Campbell, Corluka, Gomes, Dos Santos, Modric and Pav (i should really have learnt to spell his name by now) into our team against Hull. It's no wonder they aren't hitting the ground running.

as senior players jenas & zokora having the benefit of playing alongside each other in the main area of the spine of the team for 3 years now there game should be sussed down to a fine T? & they should be driving the team forward with the experience and game time together surely taking the pressure off the modric's?

Because we've been trying to do too many things at once, is the answer. We had a five-year plan which seemed to be working reasonably well, and then last summer we tore it up.

dos santos should be starting almost every game imo. and modric is finally starting to show glimpses of his quality. corluka looks classy on the ball ( maybe better suited to a DM position?) and i personally rate Gomes.Amir Zaki has proven that it is possible to come to a new league and settle in quickly (also see RVN, Torres, Santa Cruz, Mcarthy) Pavlyuchenko, take notes.

these signings will take time to settle, even the greatest seem to...look at Bergkamp at Arsenal, Hleb is another example (remember Arsenal fans saying he was shit during his first year)

Not many hit the ground running like Klinsmann did

Yes they will but surely our board and managment should have known that?? How nice would it be to have Steed back, Chimbo and Tanio all of whom could be doing a job for us right now. Unless they settle in fast they could be plying their trade at a lower league level! Please don't say I am being dramatic or negative I am beign real. We spend so much money and we have less points then Derby did this time last year!!!

My opinion on this is that as always with spurs, we buy players and throw them in at the deep end, then wonder wtf they didn't swim like they should've.

Look at the likes of arsenal, liverpool etc... shit even Portsmouth with Kaboul. They give time for their new players to adapt and settle.

We just rip apart the team, botch a new one together and then expect it to work straight away. I mean look at yesterdays team - between them all, subs invcluded they have played a combined total of 340 competitive games for Spurs!!!

Gomes (5)
Gunter (4)
Corluka (3)
Woodgate (17)
Bale (14)
Zokora (64)
Lennon (87)
Jenas (90)
Modric (5)
Campbell (2)
Pavlyuchenko (4)
Bent (32)
Bentley (7)
GDS (6)

To put this in context, Ryan Giggs came on and played for Utd. at the weekend, having made 538 appearances for them.

we have a brand new team, of top 6 players, with a few potential stars who've played virtually no games as a team. Therefore individual players are struggling and the team as a whole looks disjointed.
