Don't really see why Leeds would sell him now for 10m if there's any liklihood of him being worth double or treble that in a year's time tbh. If we bought him I'd expect him to stay there for a year anyway. 10m buys you next to nothing now.

Need the money because they didn’t get promoted probs.

This.

They lost £4.3m in the year to June 2018 on a £40m turnover, despite profit from player trading of £18m.

The shareholders had to pump in £12m of cash, and they since had a net spend of £4m on players in18/19.

They may not be skint, but that £10m could come in handy for a player who only made a handful of appearances.

He has played around just 800 minutes in Championship & had 4 starts
In the games I watched, he certainly looked good in moments. In the games at end of the season, his passes were poor when he came on. Given the stage of the season, crowd got on his back with moans & groans and then his level dipped even worse.

He seems great talent but certainly lacks the experience. If he buy him, IMO , he wont be a instant hit by Dele. He would be like a Rose/Walker kind of signing - one for the future

These are the kind of signings our team has been built on. It might take a couple of years for him to be ready for the first tram but it’s better to take a chance now and develop him than wait and not be able to afford him.

Agreed
Poch likes to work with the youth he wants to bring through & as wants to mold them & learn within our system. Clarke wouldn't get much game time here so I don't think Poch would have many reservations about loaning him back to his like-minded mentor where everyone will benefit.

I think Clarke has the potential to become a great player, but he's still very raw and struggled for minutes at Leeds this season. If we're interested in him it makes me wonder why we weren't after Dan James as he seems more ready for the Prem than Clarke IMO (full Welsh international, bags of pace, was one of Swansea's main men). United are set to snap him up at cut price. I have a feeling he's going to light up the Prem like Brooks did. It's a shame if we didn't chase his signature.

James unfortunately looks to have been swayed by the Giggs connection.

I’d say Clarke has the higher ceiling, so if we’ve identified Grealish and Sessegnon as the players who are are already able to make a contribution, Clarke would be the slow burner.

Then again, Lennon wasn’t meant to break through so quickly either and look what happened there.

Might be a goer. Leeds are allegedly interested in Dwight Gayle but supposedly can't afford.

He looks a really talented player and very skillful too. He looks quite quick once he gets going my only concerns are he seems to lack the kind of explosive acceleration you want from a wing forward. That little bit of acceleration which gets you half a yard to get shots/crosses away or to work magic in tight situations, it really puts defenders on the backfoot. Sane, Sterling, Lucas, Son, Mane, Salah etc type explosiveness. Hell even Daniel James has it (why aren't we in for him?!). That combined with his tall build means he won't have particularly great agility or high ability in very tight situations.

That said he looks to have very good dribbling ability and quick feet, plus he is only 18 so plenty of time to improve his agility and acceleration. At £10 million I'm not sure we can go wrong? Loan him back for a season to let him keep developing.

He’s got basically the same lanky build as Bale at that age, and Bale didn’t have that initial impact acceleration until he muscled out a bit in his early twenties. In fact the first time I saw him that’s what I was reminded of, a 17 year old Bale.

A 6'2 winger, the Yorkshire Nacer Chadli.

Get him in.

Slight deviation, but still can't believe we sold Chadli when we did. He was such a frustrating but goal reliable handsome bastard!

I'm sure the Yorkshire version will be just as good albeit less handsome!

This journo is considered Tier 1 for Leeds and seems to be the only person Leeds fans take any notice of.

Leeds United braced for bid as Tottenham Hotspur step up interest in Jack Clarke

Leeds United are braced for a bid from Tottenham Hotspur for Jack Clarke amid strong interest in the winger from the Champions League finalists.

United have yet to receive an official offer from Spurs but the Premier League club are targeting the 18-year-old’s signature after his breakthrough season at Elland Road.

Clarke earned his first-team debut for Leeds in October and made headlines with an impressive impact before Christmas, keeping United in the running for automatic promotion from the Championship.

The teenager’s talent has been talked about for some time and Manchester City were attempting to lure him from United’s academy before Leeds secured him on a professional contract in 2017.

His development and form under Marcelo Bielsa was affected by the illness which saw him rushed to hospital during the second half of a 1-1 draw at Middlesbrough in February but he has been on the radar of a number of top-flight clubs and Spurs appear to be at the front of the queue.

United have sold prominent players in both of the last two summer transfer windows, using the income to help fund their own transfer business, and owner Andrea Radrizzani admitted this week that the club were facing a “difficult” market before the start of next season.

The deal signed by Clarke in 2017 was announced as a four-year contract, running to 2021.

How would we be able to offer both he and Sessegnon playing time?

Given how much you’ve been frustrated by our lack of depth this season, I’m surprised to see you flagging this as a potential issue.

Way I see it, Son, Dele and Lucas will all be here next season. We don’t know about Eriksen but it’s likely he’ll be off, while Lamelas injury record is more than well known. There is more than enough room for two prodigiously talented 18 year old HG players.

Would be more than satisfied with this next season:

Kane
(Llorente)
Son Dele Lucas
(Sessegnon Grealish Lamela Clarke)
That’s 9 players for 4 positions, leaving 16 slots for the remaining 7, 13 of which could be non HG too, and with a good mix of experience and youth, players who won’t expect maximum playing time and versatility too (Lamela across AM and up front, Dele and Grealish at CM, Sessegnon at LB, Lucas and Son either flank and up front).

That leaves us with a lot of flexibility to address CM as appropriate.
