To prove that we are not spending according to the budget you seem to think we should have available for players.

Well, I was referring to Lilbaz's suggestion that there cannot be a loosening of the pursestrings /budget. It was that specific argument I took issue with.

For fucks sake...

Good argument. I disagree with you, you just repeat you old argument. Bravo.

While I respect and appreciate ITK, my frustration is that while we have this far failed to sign this very talented lad, our direct competition have all been out strengthening and we are yet again into pre season without our additions. And don’t come back with it’s a World Cup year because JG didn’t go.

Relax. Take a deep breath. Otherwise, I fear you will not make it until August 9.

This is not an easy transfer. Villa do not want to sell - but they have to sell. They have one asset of any real value, and its their job to maximize the value of that asset. Levy is not worried about that - he wants to maximize value for THFC. Eventually, they will find a common ground.

And, the part that is probably most complicating the deal is the structure of the deal. Villa want/need cash up front. Levy prefers to payout over time (as do most teams) - so finding the right price, factoring in how much is paid up front, is a little tricker than normal.

This simply isn't true. Our revenue has increased by nearly £100m in the last financial year alone, and is projected to increase by £100m more by next year. Stadium financing is secured through medium and long term loans. I wish people would stop propagating the myth that we are paupers. We are not. Sure we aren't City or Chelsea with unlimited millions, but on the other hand we aren't skint either.

Most expensive ticket prices in Europe next season. The time has come to either shit or get off the pot.

our revenue increase last season, but the season before we had 8k less supporters every home game. with that increase we have been able to use it for increasing our players wages, the last thing we need to be doing is what happened to Arsenal, that meant selling players to stay a head, and we still haven't got a definite stadium sponsor yet.

which until the end of this season coming we won't know what money will be in the coffers. we can't spend on this seasons season tickets just in case it was to go wrong and we don't get to sell them next season. all our bills have increased, a lot more staff, and since we got the loans, prices for the stadium build have increased. The club have no idea how much money will definitely be brought in till next May.

hopefully everything will be a success this season, the football the stadium, merchandise and sponsorships. if that happens you never know we might be able to get the players in by the start of next seasons pre-season

@[email protected] you disagree. This is where our money has gone in the last ten year. Yes we built up some cash reserves but that is because we started building the stadium and need them. We have a budget for players that levy will not go over because he can't.

Sorry to follow u around talking accounting but while this is very interesting the key aspect that is missing is that this is historic. I think as fans we all understood the club’s strategy for the last 10 years but the stadium is a game changer because our revenue should mean we are now on a different level. We are seeing this in the Kane deal but I think as fans we are entitled to expect investment in the squad commensurate with the prices the club have asked us to pay. The noises coming from ITKs had initially given us cause for optimism but that seems to have changed recently and so I think some amount of angst is understandable and not really deflected by the classic counter view of “in Levy we trust” or “let’s not do a Leeds”.

I agree that is a big issue but whose responsibility is that ? Really DL hasn’t had anything more important to do than secure the best naming rights possible for the last 2 years. He has hired and fired 5 different people in the role and to the best of our knowledge still hasn’t succeeded. Now of course he could be playing a blinder by hiding a massive deal until after the window so nobody sees how much cash we have but if he hasn’t then he is IMHO guilty of a gross dereliction of duty.

Historic or not levy has a budget that he will stick too how much he needs for the stadium, players, tax etc... he isn't holding back money that could be spent on players he will spend what is in the budget. All this talk of loosening the purse strings is meaningless.

:ROFLMAO:

Levy is not managing the construction - MACE is managing the construction. Not much Levy can do about that - other than authorize more overtime wages...

Levy is doing what Levy does best - business "stuff". His primary job is to maximize the value of THFC, and I would say he has done a fantastic job...

Its not in Levy's nature to rush a deal, nor take the first offer he gets. He works deals until he feels its the best deal he can get.

I think there might be crossed wires with terminology. Of course there is a budget, even City have a budget. We are just saying the budget should now be bigger, much bigger (“loosened purse strings”) and it is frustrating to watch our main competitors get deals done early while we again sit on our hands. Personally I’m happy to wait if I thought that when we moved on from Plan A that we didn’t last minute panic and go to Plan Z.

I think a lot of people forget we spent like 115 mil last season which was about 40 mil in net spend. Would be pretty shocked if we went down from that number going into the new stadium and a very important season to further establish ourselves as a top team in Europe.

The budget might be bigger it might not. We are still building and paying for the stadium. We will do the best we can with the resources we have. We have done well in the last 10 years climbing from midtable to one of the best teams in the league so i will trust levy.

We all want shiny new toys including levy. Getting upset if we don't get them is pointless. Many fans do so every window.

Yes we all want shiny new toys but this window is different, we’ve been asked to pay up in a major way for our season tickets so not unreasonable to expect the club to step up.

you quoted my post with below, but you haven't picked up, that what you've paid this season, won't be in the coffers till next season.

the person I quoted @Colonel Dax mentioned about the 100m increase in turnover, well if you consider Kanes contract has doubled, and a good chance that the players that will get offered a new one that theirs might not be far off from double, that 100m will nearly be spent, leaving the 30-50m net spend that was mentioned by time we finish all our in's and outs

I agree the stadium naming should of been in place by now, but I doubt that's all our dear leader has had to deal with.

with 3½ weeks left of the transfer window, I think we should save our main thoughts until we know exactly what we have achieved
