I just find it difficult to really care :meh:.

Grealish is a decent enough Championship player. He may become rather good but I think that is his ceiling. He could equally do nothing much at all. I think the only reason we are in for him at all is that Levy is sniffing a bargain :greedy:.

"We have a common goal of delivering future success for Aston Villa and I look forward to working together to achieve this aim," said Dr Xia in a club statement, which confirmed the investment deal had been ratified by the English Football League.

The price would surely still go up however. Should have got this done for the US tour, if it ends up costing Levy an extra £2-3m now hopefully he might learn a lesson not to screw a deal too hard.

I'm a Levy fan, but there is no doubt that his negotiating tactics have lost us some players over the years.
I don't believe he will ever change to be honest

It remains to be seen if those players are better than Grealish, maybe we can assume Mahrez for now but we shall see with the others.
This new investment doesn't mean Grealish is staying, more likely to go so that Villa can actually bring some money to the deal too.

'maybe we can assume Mahrez for now' er no.. we definitely know Mahrez is a (far) superior player as he's proved it over the last few seasons. Let's be realistic, if Grealish became as good as Mahrez we'd be very happy, chances of him being better are pretty slim. For instance, even in his 'poor' post-title season he scored more than Grealish has in his entire career. I appreciate people want to see the positives, but really?

We have top 4 rivals signing Mahrez, Becker, Fabinho, Fred, Jorginho, Leno etc and here we are haggling fees with a fucking championship club for fucking Jack Grealish. Really amazes me really...
Hang on so you would be happy if we signed a bunch of unproven players to play in the premier league and might not do any good (except Mahrez from that list). Also i have no idea who Becker is , please don't look like an idiot though like many did last season with the same moaning that went on. Our Squad is pretty great and only needs a few additions right now so the club will be selective as always and take their time.

Edit: he means Allison when he says Becker, he will do well but i'm shocked a club spending 60 mill on a keeper, do we also need another keeper then?

I sort of meant that, sorry if that wasn't clear however we still need to see about the others.

I know they "have to sell for FFP," but there is a vast difference between not making payroll and not making FFP.

The new villa investors (later owners) seem seriously loaded and connected, expect that they will arrange for 'arms length' sponsorship to clear up FFP. This transfer could be in peril I reckon.

We are in a totally different planet to the top 6 nevermind top 4 though. We simply cannot compete financially with them and people need to accept that.

Would be classic Spurs that. A rather extreme example of the things that can happen if you are not quick enough to close deals.
So are we now racing against the clock to sign a bargain before the new owners goes through the league for approval? This is so spursy

And these potential new shareholders/owners have just magically dropped out of the sky and haven't been in the background for a month and a half whilst we dick around? Surely this has always been part of the hold up.

You’d have to think this was the delay that’s been hinted at, and that things are on course, right? *hides pitchfork*

I thought all the dithering with the Grealish deal was due to the Villa side and not our end, which it now seems it was. I would have imagined the new owners said no to any movements till they are 100% in place and have their feet under the table so to speak.

So, IF Grealish does go ahead, I wouldn't expect it till end of next week at the earliest.

Yep, I've got a bad feeling these new owners are going to step in and make things very difficult...hope I'm wrong

Not doubting your (and a few others) view that this may complicate the deal but it's in no way 100% going to cause problems.

First off, the investors, now buyers will know this business is largely agreed. They wouldn't be kept in the dark on where this deal is, so them buying the club doesn't change that.

Secondly, when buying a business you look at it's ins/outs and assets especially if that business needs help. JG is an asset and one which may mean their investment in their playing squad is lessened due to getting a decent fee for the lad and having a (presumably) top earner off the payroll. So that in financial terms is a win - but what about the footballing side of things?

Well yes they will lose a key player who engages with fans and has passion for the club but when have owners of clubs actually cared that much about those elements - the money side of the game talks, especially to people like them.

Yes there may be some additional formalities/waiting while the club changes hands but all parties are seemingly agreed on a deal here (and as mentioned, new buyers would have been well aware) and want it to happen, so i don't see any major concerns - time will tell if i'm proved wrong.

It’s never looks good when new owners come in and the first thing they do is sell the best player at the club. Certainly no way to endear themselves to the fans.
