Hopefully they'll sell him to us with the hope that they can then get some quality draft picks to start a rebuild.

We are in a totally different planet to the top 6 nevermind top 4 though. We simply cannot compete financially with them and people need to accept that.

Please explain why this is the case - I would suggest you go and read through our latest set of accounts before you try and argue why we are still on a totally different planet

We just made over £300m in revenue.....Liverpool did £365m

This is before our stadium move

Little old West Ham did £183m

Shifting GKN and a Llorente should not be preventing us signs 1-2 up and coming potentially elite players with good resale value

Not doubting your (and a few others) view that this may complicate the deal but it's in no way 100% going to cause problems.

First off, the investors, now buyers will know this business is largely agreed. They wouldn't be kept in the dark on where this deal is, so them buying the club doesn't change that.

Secondly, when buying a business you look at it's ins/outs and assets especially if that business needs help. JG is an asset and one which may mean their investment in their playing squad is lessened due to getting a decent fee for the lad and having a (presumably) top earner off the payroll. So that in financial terms is a win - but what about the footballing side of things?

Well yes they will lose a key player who engages with fans and has passion for the club but when have owners of clubs actually cared that much about those elements - the money side of the game talks, especially to people like them.

Yes there may be some additional formalities/waiting while the club changes hands but all parties are seemingly agreed on a deal here (and as mentioned, new buyers would have been well aware) and want it to happen, so i don't see any major concerns - time will tell if i'm proved wrong.

Football though is run like no other business.

They may want to make a statement to their new fans and may see Grealish as instrumental in getting them to the £200 million club of the PL.

However, as I said earlier in the thread they may have just wanted to have been in place before anything was done, so it may not have affected anything at all and we'll see him in a spurs shirt, with pen in hand next week.

I guess nobody really knows.

That's silly.

Wes Eden is no fool. He would know that the combine has already occurred so scouting ops would be limited this year. He would trust the process this year.(y)

It’s never looks good when new owners come in and the first thing they do is sell the best player at the club. Certainly no way to endear themselves to the fans.
Could potentially backfire on Jack also. "I love the club etc but left to help us out of a hole", when in reality he fancied the move to Spurs all along? Not saying this is true, but...

The new villa investors (later owners) seem seriously loaded and connected, expect that they will arrange for 'arms length' sponsorship to clear up FFP. This transfer could be in peril I reckon.

What are they going to Sponsor to make up the numbers? Villa already have a shirt sponsorship deal so unless these new guys come in, buy 32 Red out of their current deal, then conjur up a further deal amongst themselves and change shirt sponsor all over again in the space of two weeks before the season starts they won't be able to do it before the first instalment is required for FFP.

They'd also have to recall/ print and remake all of their shirts that have the current sponsors on it which would further set them back. Unless they have something up these sleeves I can't see that happening in such a short space of time

The biggest thing they could do to get the Villa fans onside would be to stop Grealish leaving and offer him a bumper deal to stay. Cheaper than buying other new players. Part of me feels that Levy has lost his negotiating power. Wouldn’t be shocked if they go back to demanding more again and we walk away.

He's 23 soon he can't stay at Villa forever at the expense of his career. Realistically if he gets to about 25 and is still playing in the Championship what high profile club is going to offer him a role and pay him the kind of salaries Premier League players get? There's loyalty and then there's looking after yourself a little bit.

If Jack had any ambition and there was a slither of a chance he could stay at Villa without them having to produce £40m in player sales, he'd see there's a potential midfield opening at one of the countries top 4 clubs and do all he can to make that his own.

He isn't going to get that kind of chance anywhere else in England when it comes to the Countries leading clubs and their current midfield players. He really needs to make his move for his own sake now or he'll be looking at a career that never got a real chance to mature and develop

They still need to sell some players to meet FFP as far as I'm aware. Whether that's Grealish is up for debate I guess.

Forgive me but the announcement is about investment into the club not buying the club, I'm not exactly certain of all the differences but people seem to be mistakenly assuming the latter rather than the former.

I think our squad is really good all ready , hopefully with Onomah Winks Moura having integrated Lamela fit it's much more stronger now. I rather we take our time and sign real quality / potential instead of panic buying because other teams had splashed out.

What are they going to Sponsor to make up the numbers? QUOTE]

I was thinking villa Park naming rights etc. What sort of stuff did Man city come up with?

Also, as I understand it, they have til seasons end to raise the money for FFP, but needed to sell now for cash and because sales in Jan would be too risky. Not sure if this latter one is right, but it seems to have been discussed that way on villa talk.

Also seems that investment is for a majority share which may well become 100% after some time.

Time will tell I guess.

So as it stands Villa have until January to make sales so in theory they could keep Grealish for half a season, get the most out of him for that time to try and push for a fast start and a promotion push and then sell him in Jan.

That would hugely benefit them as Grealish could have a stormer and attract more interest, as well as give them a greater chance to secure promotion next time around if reports that he really kicked on those last 6 months are true.

With regards to the stadium naming rights etc I don't know if that would go towards FFP etc I honestly have no idea how it works. It just seems that unless we give Villa a good offer they probably have more reasons to keep than they do to sell until January. Yes it comes with risk they won't be able to sell then and that we aren't in for him anymore etc but I'd be keen to know what the punishments are should they fail to meet FFP rules as if it's just a transfer embargo or a points deduction should they not generate that £40m in sales, including Grealish, then they may as well keep him a as the only other saleable asset they have is Chester.

Maybe Levy is underestimating them on this one after all. I think if he offers them £25m-£30m' even though it's too high for an unproven top level Grealish then they simply have to accept

Villa have just got a couple of billionaires on board as investors according to the BBC , hopefully it won't stop us getting Grealish but any hope of a bargain could be out the window.

It will probably not make a difference as the money they need to generate needs to come from player sales. It's not debt that they need to worry about, its balancing their FFP books (I hope anyway)

Steve Bruce has said as much. Their effort to win promotion last year left them very short on FFP (by championship standards) so even if they get money they still have to sell in order to buy.
