Forgive me but the announcement is about investment into the club not buying the club, I'm not exactly certain of all the differences but people seem to be mistakenly assuming the latter rather than the former.

"The club’s owner, Dr Tony Xia, engaged in talks with the Egyptian group, eventually agreeing to a co-ownership model. Xia will remain on the board at Villa Park and become co-chairman."

What a shit show.

I thought our resident ITK said this was basically done and dusted for grealish

There has been nothing said anywhere that should make you think otherwise. Unless I've missed it, I haven't seen any of the articles say this is going to keep him with Villa.

Read through the posts matey. A takeover won't wipe off their FFP debt. That can only be done raising money from player sales or so it seems when a few of us have looked into it.

Should leave the Grealish deal needing to happen still for them or they face fines and possible point deductions. They need to break even on FFP, not the bottom line

Tried to comb through the last several pages and make sure this wasn’t already posted (if it has let me know and I’ll delete), but here’s a solid article on the state of Aston Villa’s finances and what their new backers mean for transfers. Has a portion on Grealish and what their cash flow means for his transfer and directly refers to DL.

Quite a read, but basically says these backers ensure they can pay the bills now, and they are not dependent on selling JG to make ends meet. Still need to sell for FFP, but don’t have to sell for cheap anymore.

Really hoping this doesn’t complicate things too terribly, even though I’m sure it has.

Looks like its a possibility this will drag on even further then it already has then. This tranfer window just getting more and more interesting, and not in a good way.

Very interesting read thank you for highlighting.

Seems to me that this new breathing space of theirs has made Grealish a £25m player as opposed to the potential £15m buy Levy had in mind. For a talented, home grown player I still think we'll go for it but Villa's muscle has changed, so it depends on how much we've been low balling them and how willing they are to use this respite for good long term measure.

Times ticking on what appear both our main summer targets for two different reasons

Or Levy has well and truely fucked up this negotiation by dragging it on for so long and now Villa have got fresh investment strengthening their position?
Or Villa dragged it on for so long because they knew they were working on getting fresh investment? Like, seriously, do you think Villa only started negotiating a multi billion pound investment deal yesterday morning?

Waiting for the confirmation that this is done. A lot of newspapers/outlets stated the 21st. I do have reasonable faith in them for certain things. Just difficult to sift out the crap.

Careful, you might get lynched by the anti-Levy brigade.

I liked the how much is Jack worth bit.

I went for a conservative 18m, he's a Championship player (currently at least). Thought the average would be 25m, but it's 35m.

I know it's Villa fans but blimey, 35m. That means a lot rated him even higher! The market and fan perception is truly crazy.

Mentioned to the wife that Villa were involved with new investors. She said we wouldn’t get JG so cheap now. I also added that an offer of £12m was about to be accepted. I wish I filmed the meltdown, it was one of her better ones.
