There will be money spent don't worry about that. As I keep saying though the value is there at the back end of the window, not now. Last couple or so weeks of the window is where we will be doing the bulk of our business.

It’s when we have always done business so that was never going to change. An early signing or two would be nice but not exactly what we are renound for, unless it’s opportunistic like grealish seems to be.

It's the sensible and realistic approach to have, but in that case its a shame Poch so publicly said he wanted signings early. All that does is raise expectations and also give the fans a stick to beat Levy with if things don't start so well

Impossible not to look at Liverpool - 3 brilliant signings made and it's the beginning of June.

Just hope our approach is worthwhile with the signings we end up making...

Yeah, people have given me shit all day about saying this kid isn't going to play given the current roster. I've gotten a bunch of response saying oh yeah I'm sure the manager doesn't know how much he'll play but you do. Pretty sure Poch had a plan for Nkoudou, Njie, Llorente, Janssen as well..

And? You’re point still relies on you knowing more then poch about what he wants/needs which I find highly unlikely considering you’re here talking about it on an Internet forum and he’s the manager

They’ve spent a lot on 3 players who’ve never played in the premier league. Let’s see how they do. England isn’t Ligue 1.

If they fail then that’s going to be the stick Klopp will be beaten with and probably then lose his job over.

Besides would any of them get in our starting XI? I doubt it. Possibly keita in midfield.

Don't know about sensible... A lot of our signings struggle in their first season because of being brought in too late and not having had the benefit of a full Poch-preseason.
Poch didn't call on the club to be bold for no reason. Worried now that that plea seems to have fallen on deaf ears...

Definitely Keita - I think he's bloody brilliant :(

You do make a good point thought - we seem to be targeting players who have played in the league before, Zaha, Martial, Grealish etc...

But then surely Levy hasn’t learned anything as we need players in prior to pre-season otherwise it affects our whole season.

Poch has said he wants players in for ore-season.

How much are we realistically saving by waiting till the end of the window?

Offset this with having players not conditioned right, not knowing our system and dropped points, performances etc.

We start the season poorly and it’s catch up all year.

Very short sighted IMO.

I know it's not the way we do things, whether that's because we just can't afford to (unlikely) or it's our business model, but I can't help but be a little jealous of the way the Scousers are taking their improvement and upward trajectory by the scruff of the neck and getting on with things.

So the Jack Grealish thread has turned into another "Let's drool over Liverpool"-thread. Fantastic.

Isnt this v similar to past windows?

Always started off brightly wanting to make statements of intent but no huge signings. People will be saying "my god window has only started for 2 weeks... we have 2 months more chill the fuck up etc"

Now comes the middle of the window when there growing signs of frustrations - "chill, the deals are difficult, we are trying our best, poch is backed"

End of window - "it was never easy to begin with... we have limited budget etc etc"

In my opinion, based on past windows, early complains at the start of the window are completely justified. I wouldn't be surprised if next season's blips are blamed on this window's delay in signing players again - lack of pre season, WC fever - clubs are only willing to sell after WC etc etc

We never learn.

That may very well happen this window and I'm not holding my breath but last summer Poch said multiple times that we were waiting until later in the market because we wanted the bigger clubs to sweep up first. Didn't really pan out that way.

If we can get Grealish and another on board pretty quickly I think that would be ok.

not sure this is what Poch meant by "taking risks".

seems like we might buy him because he's in our price range. Any OK player, nothing special.

He's not going to get us a round further in the champions league, he's not going to turbo-charge our push toward a title challenge.

Totally uninspiring

Big mistake to let Josh go the other way in any capacity.

Depends. I would be extremely unhappy of we let him go permanently and I think if he was to go out on loan again I would like him to go to a prem team, however, if he has asked to go back to villa on loan then that is his decision and hopefully he doesn't get so many injuries like he did last season.

We save a lot. It's not just transfer fees that get these big deals over the line early.

Do you honestly believe Poch wasn't aware of how and when we were going to sign players last week when he signed a new contract? If he actually wants to get the players he wants then it's a waiting game, and he is aware of that.
