I don’t know much about Grealish beyond what I’ve read here and what I’ve seen on YouTube, but it does appear he has the skill set or centre somewhat lacks in terms of quick, imaginative football, and that he is tigerish enough to compensate for his lack of ‘solidity’ if played with a pure DM.

Dier
Grealish Eriksen
That could be a lovely balanced midfield 3 if you ask me. Then have Dele or Son off the left, Moura or Lamela off the right, happy times. The big IF is whether or not Grealish has the personality and drive to match the technique. That’s ultimately the difference between a Modric or a Paulinho.

Let's just get this one over the line.

As I mentioned on main thread last night, we are desperate for new ideas önce teams Park the bus or target Eriksen.

This kid has a good footballing brain and not only will he be a good backup to Eriksen, but I look forward to getting them on the pitch together to share the creativity against those said teams.

Really? The league table doesn't lie. Champions League qualification 3 years in a row. Every window fans like you whinge about not spending £100's of millions on the latest shiny player.

Dreadful isn't. We'll probably just end up in the top 3 again, QF's of the Champions League and a cup run.

Fuck me, some of you deserve the 90's again........

Tell you what we deserve...Tottenham Hotspur winning trophies

That what Billy Nick would have said

I bet you are over the moon about out fabulous 7 FA cup semi finals then.....those were great cup runs weren't they?

QF and cup runs and you are happy with that

If you’re questioning the possible signing of Jack Grealish, you should think again.

I won’t get into the qualities or problems of Grealish because I, like everyone here, knows too little about him to judge. I’m sure our scouts and management team know better and we should trust them.

Somebody earlier in this thread made an excellent point about our best signings often coming from humble beginnings. Our scouts and management picked out Dier, Alli, Trippier, Rose and Davies on the cheap from British clubs.

Meanwhile, our scouts have been less successful picking out top players for higher prices abroad. For every Son, there’s been an N’Jie, GKN or Janssen.

Our record of buying more experienced players in the English leagues is excellent too (Dembele, Alderweireld and Wanyama also had prior Premiership experience). Our record of foreign imports is hit and miss with few, even our best overseas purchases, having strong first seasons. Of the current crop, Vertonghen and Sanchez are the exceptions. And neither of those buys sent our pulses racing when they were announced.

If history has taught us anything, we should want to be underwhelmed by a transfer. After all it’s the underwhelming ones that often seem to end up becoming our best players.

Doing most of our business in the last few days of the window (if true) screams to me that we aren’t properly serious about signing those players and instead are hoping to get deals across the line. I’m prepared for a typically frustrating window.

Oh for the days of having Modric tied up days after the season finishing. Clearly, things are better now but we just don’t seem to do those sort of deals anymore. Liverpool on the other hand...

If grealish is the pinnacle of our signings this summer then people can complain. Until then we are signing a young player to fill a position we are sometimes lacking in so Eriksen doesn't get a rest, for a reasonable fee, with a decent sell on value, who is also a decent player.

I'm all for it. If it doesn't work out then so be it, but don't knock the kid already. Very good signing in my opinion. Could be an absolute bargain

I understand why we wait till the later part of the window but can anyone think of 1 decent signing we made because of waiting till the very last of the window(bar VDV)..It does more harm than good but what do I know.

I think we signed Eriksen pretty late on, but that was an exceptional window.

It just seems a bit odd that this window (which many have said, including Poch, is a truly key window for us) the first signings we’re making are interesting but non-essential punts like Grealish whilst the really important ones will be left until late (with all the risk that goes with that).

Judgement reserved until end of window as always, but early signs are not encouraging.

I'm not mad over this lad but if he does end up signing, which looks likely at this point, I'll welcome him as much as any other Spurs player and hope for the best.

I would say that a few of us should probably wait until the end of the transfer window before having a meltdown about a lack of signings or not spending big. If we start the season with Grealish, Martial, a new CM and De Ligt/a committed Alderweireld, that would be amazing and is still entirely possible.
