Why is it arrogance to disagree with a manager? Is every pundit arrogant? Every fan who is disappointed in the game day line up arrogant?

My entire reasoning against this actually has nothing to do with the player itself. Its the position and our allocation of resources.

What games do we need cover for Eriksen in? I'm not saying we don't need other players in the position I'm simply trying to discuss this with you.

If Eriksen is injured who can we use as a playmaker ? Winks if he is fit and then ?

£25Mil for a kid from the Championship, whos only other interest comes from West Ham tells you quite a bit. With Dele there was genuine interest from the big boys before we swooped in and got him. This just seems like a rather expensive "opportunistic" buy, with a high risk factor attached.

Also for all the people harking back to the Dele purchase and how he broke through, seem to have forgotten, that at that time there was actually room for a player to break through as we at best had 2nd tier players occupying those positions compared to now, where we have genuine EPL heavy hitters and quality on the bench.

Is a super player. If he gets on board with Pochs training then we've potentially got ourselves one of the very few English players who can pick a pass in the final third.

Properly dangerous player that I think, in a football playing, top 4 team, with proper movement around him will genuinely suprise a lot of people.

...if he gets on board.

What's the high risk? Even if he flops I'd be shocked if we didn't long him off for about the same we got him for.

Great prospect. Very excited.

I really believe if we get him he will be a big hit under Poch. He'll be in the England squad by the end of the season.

I have absolutely nothing sensible to add to this thread. I’ve only seen him play on TV (very well most times, though he looks like a numpty).

But I thought I’d help get the thread to the magic 100 pages in the hope that the transfer will then be resolved one way or another.

My God, are you still at it? Thought I'd drop in and see where we've got. Brings this to mind...

Like a circle in a spiral, like a wheel within a wheel
Never ending or beginning on an ever spinning reel
As the images unwind, like the circles that you find
In the windmills of your mind!

I am very 'meh' on this transfer but if what people say about his attitude changing and him being more mature are true then he could be a useful player for us.

the thing is if @yankspurs had his way, we wouldn't have a full squad to play with as we would have restrictions put upon us due to not enough HG players.
Uh, no. My real problem is why are we going after players like Grealish who have potential but are not close to our level yet? Why sign these players? Why not give our own academy players these chances if we’re going to sign players not at our level and spend the money on real quality that will improve the first XI? Is that not what Poch was bought on to do?

Very "meh" with this link but if Poch wants him, will get behind him but cant help but think this one wont work out, the kid is 22 and I don't see him pulling up trees in the championship, compare him and Sess as an example.

Will support him if/when he comes in as looks like happening but certainly not an exciting signing

The high risk with this purchase, requires you to look at the larger picture as it not only lies in budgetary limitation for other targets, but also time.

The league is evolving and growing at a unreal pace and missing your window of opportunity is a very real danger for us considering in how good of a position we are right now. We missed one opportunity already, but were able to lock our self into position to strike again, so wasting significant resources and time on a project player is simply very risky.

If this was a £5Mil - £10Mil signing I would be wouldn't be opposed to this purchase as much, however £25Mil+ for us is a significant outlay that will definitely have a knock on effects for our budget that seems to be ever changing so much that even the ITK's aren't in unison's when it comes to the transfer market budget and targets.

We go from significant budget promises to than again reigning it back and going back to our MO of selling before buying and keeping a low net spend. While also simultaneously being close to the top of the food chain to then hunting in the bargain bin and project players. To me it seems more like we are still scrambling trying to figure out if we are going to go for it or not, and signings like Grealish only lead me to believe that we are more than satisfied with where we are than actually pushing on.

This signing will very much be a drawing line in the sand for us and out ambition for next season.

I could see poch grooming him into a Michael carrick type of player. What’s obvious is he is comfortable picking up the ball in his own half anywhere across the midfield.

He can pick a pass and yes drive with the ball I wouldn’t say his best work is always in the final third . Maybe alongside dier or wanyama with eriksen further forward could work

Different kind of player entirely:

This times a million. Everyone who is against Grealish have pretty much never seen him kick a ball. It's a joke. Yet, still, they pretend they know more than Pochettino. Such arrogance. It's actually pathetic.
Everyone? Really?

The fallacy with your reasoning is your assumption that in the eyes of the coaching staff there are players in the academy that can contribute to the first team now and that they are adjudged to have the same potential as Mr. Grealish. That is apparently not the case. Also, the staff may believe he has the potential to be something much more expensive than we can afford if and when he reaches that potential. This very system is how we got Dele, Eriksen, Rose, Walker, et al. We might be able to buy one of these guys as the final product but we bought them young and developed them. Some took awhile and some developed rather quickly like Dele.

If we were signing someone from the French league/eredevise with the stats and highlight videos Grealish has people would be excited
It's easy to get excited about someone you haven't seen over someone you have and don't rate that highly.

People were excited for Alli and he was neither of those things.
