Your entire point about a player you have never seen kick a football.

Only now it's about 20 pages later.

Fucking hell.

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
My entire point is about where we are as a club, where this squad is and where I believe our ambitions should be. God forbid I would hope we up our level as we look to cement ourselves as an elite club in European football. This squad is really damn good, we don't need more depth, we need proven talent to take us to the next level.

If we disagree on where the club should be aiming then thats fine.

The blueprint that got us this far isn't going to be ripped up over night.

If you believe the club are not aiming high enough that's fine.

Not sure how you can claim anything in regard to player you haven't seen play. Just my onions.

Not once as I've stated several times. The literal guy who gave us the info said it was a 'meh' signing. CM is without a doubt our biggest issue going into next season, we should be going for proven talent there. That is my entire point in this whole thread.

OK. Not having a go, but it's clear we're in for Grealish and I don't think he's a meh signing. Rather I believe Poch has seen elements of his play that he can develop within his "project".

I'm far from a professional scout, but I watched a lot of Villa last season hoping to catch some glimpses of Josh Onomah. Unfortunately, Josh hardly ever played CM in a 4-1-4-1 that was made for his skillset. I'd have stuck him alongside Grealish, with a holding DM behind, and Villa would have been worth watching. But, in Bruce's snoozefest, Grealish was the only player who kept the zzzzzs away. :)

We've been linked with him since he was a 16-year-old making his PL debut. In his early years, it was clear he had excellent technique and the ability to beat a man. But he was a bit of a show pony, whose personal life was far from that of a model pro. I didn't want him anywhere near the famous Spurs.

But I changed my mind watching him last season as an attacking CM rather than a 10. The Championship is a very physical league, where players get very little time on the ball. But Grealish had time. He was frequently the only player looking to receive the ball under pressure, get his head up, and start an attacking move. And nearer the opposition penalty area, he scared defenders with his close control. By all accounts, he's also a much better professional now too.

So, he's grown as a player, learning how to use his talent for the team, and he's grown up some as a man.

He's now 22, so he's either going to make the leap to be the top player he has the talent to be. Or he's going to remain one of those players with unfulfilled potential.

If he develops under Poch, he is definitely good enough to play CM for England in Southgate's system. If he fails to develop, we flog him back to a midlands club for £15-20 million where he'll play every week.

And he's a huge upgrade on Sissoko because Grealish doesn't hide from the ball, can control it with one touch, and beat a man.

So, if Poch wants Grealish, I'm much happier with this signing than some of our other squad player signings such as the Ns, Stambouli, and of course Sissoko.

we do need more depth if we are to compete on 4 fronts and hope to bring at least one of those targets home, and not suffer with fatigue with others in the squad. Our problem is we are not a Man C, Man U, or Chelsea (when they spent rapid) to be able to fill it with quality. What we do have is a manager that believes in building it through youth, and hope 1 day all 25 = quality and can then compete on all 4 fronts

Personal terms agreed. Fee is issue. It's proving difficult. Villa want/ need it up front. Tottenham want to pay half now and pay over duration of contract plus add ons. Medical has not been done. How close to being done is anyone's guess. Players have been offered in exchange. Villa want the cash. Agent is very keen on tottenham anf will push it through though.

We haven't agreed a fee yet.

I'm guessing that they're obviously trying to maximise the upfront fee and if that is the case we'll be trying to minimise the overall fee in turn. Also a complication if we're offering players on loan.

Honestly not sure i'd want to give them anyone again. Onomah is just not suited to a Bruce team.

Maybe he could get a tune out of Edwards, who knows. CCV too possibly.
