With the media reports coming out, this is showing early signs of playing out like a Ross Barkley type deal, where we wait for the valuation to drop and we wait too long and we end up missing out on the player
While I get where you are going we waited on Barkley because he was injured then got injured immediately again and Everton still wanted premium value. Chelsea were willing to risk it and pay that premium (plus line his agents pockets). They then bought him at a cit rate still injured and he carried on being varying degrees of injured. He will get his fitness back, most likely, but I don't blame the club for not going all out for a player who was broken several times over.

I’m so glad we missed out on Barkley. We’d have spent £25M on a player who had suffered a major injury. Chelsea paid massively over the odds in January, and were rewarded with a few minutes of crap from a clearly unfit player. Meanwhile we signed Moura, who is a much better player for the money Everton wanted for Barkley last summer.

With regards to how long signings are taking, as long as the new players are in for the full squad pre-season, inc. returning WC players then I’m sure Poch will be a happy man, as I will be. Whether we sign Grealish this week or next is irrelevant.

Liverpool going for Grealish makes a lot of sense, they need more bench options in midfield even if they do end up getting another big name AM. Be interesting to see where he ends up.

I suspect it’s not true they want him, just a ploy to get us to pay more.

Leicester paid £24m for Maddison, so Grealish won't be sold for less than that, regardless of Villa's cash flow problems.

I think the Maddison price reflects a better value of sessegnon personally.

It seems like the payment structure of the fee is the problem with grealish according to itk. Obviously that might of changed now but if we are the only team in for the player and he wants us then you’d think it would happen sooner or later as they have to sell currently.

If Grealish comes in, it is to add to what we have, and give us the flexibility we seek. He is NOT coming in as Eriksen back-up etc!!!

I think you’ll find he would primarily be a back up. No chance he gets in our first XI unless we suffer a few injuries.
