On instagram, a bunch of the squad members (Lamela, Aurier, Nkoudou and Lucas) have all posted stories/pictures of them either boarding a plane/train back to london or prepping for pre season, which would make me believe that it starts Monday

Sounds like a very 'Liverpool' reply. But fair play, we should be targeting a higher calibre of player too imo.

Lets be honest though - there are not many English players of a higher calibre than Grealish that we can afford/target.

Part of the allure to Grealish is that he is talented and home grown - and is currently better than what we have available at the academy level.

Judging by the below quote, I think it’s safe to say that Bruce is talking about Levy waiting for deadline day (like he loves to do) to get the cheapest price possible, knowing villa have to sell. So don’t think we’ll be signing Grealish until the last day:

There are going to be people that I do not want to sell - and the obvious one is Jack [Grealish] - but people will know that we have got financial problems and they'll sit and wait, and wait, till Deadline Day possibly. Interesting- I see them as similar players. Would have been happy with Barkley as he's proven in Premier League and has similar tactical versatility but Grealish could eclipse him in the end.
