Herc has spoken in the ITK thread. Seems like this one still is a ways off, club still holding out for more money and Grealish going along with it.

Which would suggest that @SpartanSpur was correct in saying that yesterdays fiasco might not have been about grealish..:sneaky:

Plus the fact that Grealish is still posting on Instagram about being at the Villa camp... can't imagine he would still be there today if a fee was agreed yesterday?

Maybe the story about him only wanting us wasn't completely true as well...

I'm pretty confident from the ITK that Grealish has set his sights on playing for Poch alongside a bunch of England internationals. That's why the likes of Leicester backed off and signed Maddison, and Liverpool are releasing drivel about his not being good enough for them.

But Grealish has played for Villa all his career, and their fans love him. It's entirely honourable for him to want Villa to get a good fee. Ultimately, he knows the deal will be done and he'll end up at Spurs on the contract ITK suggests he & his agent have already agreed.

Everyone knows this is a Levy deal, and at some stage Villa will have to accept his best offer, which will be based around a significant first payment (to help meet their FFP cluster), and probably a whole bunch of achievement clauses.

If he wanted to play for a manager that is great with young players and had English internationals why would he turn down Liverpool?

A&C confirming in the ITK thread all the lovely conspiracy theories are just that and the hubbub is about Grealish.

Interesting considering Herc's other post today about him not forcing a move so that Villa get a decent fee. Plus the fact Grealish is seemingly in Portugal currently.

Seemingly rules out both a fee agreement and a medical/training ground visit. Personal terms supposedly done weeks ago. What other developments are there on a transfer?

For weeks the ITK has suggested he & his agent want Spurs, and I'm entirely content with my hypothesis that he wants to see his boyhood club Villa get a decent fee.

Thank God. At last, a reasoned, balanced view of what will (probably) be an excellent deal for us eventually. I've read all sorts of utter rubbish on other boards, but your post sets things up very nicely. Just in case anyone may be in any doubt about young JG, I watched an awful lot of him last season as one of my best mates is a Villa fan and we like to discuss footie together...Grealish has done a good deal of growing up and is now one of the Championship's finest midfielders, so his addition to our squad would reap fine dividends, I'm convinced of it. Let's hope it get's done.

I think Levy will be more concerned about the financial deal rather than the footballing aspect of getting him in for pre-season. Now Liverpool are out of the equation i'd imagine he'll use that to his advantage to knock the price down further. I still think we might have to wait a couple of weeks yet but hopefully not.

They were never in it.
