Don't think we have anyone in our squad with feet as quick as this kid. The way he just glides past players amazes me, he doesn't have the physique of dembele yet he seems to get by just as many players. This kid's gonna be a star, so happy we're the ones taking a gamble on him instead of Klopp or Pep

Wow that kidney injury sounds horrendous

https://www.football.london/tottenh...ansfer-14903953.amp?__twitter_impression=true

"I took a kick to the kidney and it split in two places. It was pouring with blood, internally, for about five hours.

"It’s the worst pain I’ve ever been in. I went to Heartlands hospital in Birmingham. They found out what it was and I was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth for an operation. Before it happened, the surgeon had to tell me the consequences of what could happen if it didn't work.

"He looked me in the eye and said, ‘Jack, you could die’.

Agreed it does. On the plus side it seems to have had a positive effect on him.

Grealish will be our Gascoigne replacement! ;):cautious::cool: At last.

At least that’s what I’m hoping.

This talk about "being on England in a year"—it seems like a strange barometer to be measuring Grealish by. Euro qualifiers don't start until March and England has one game scheduled before that vs. the US in November. It's not like he's going to have loads of opportunities in the next year.

I can't see him not starting for us but starting for England (Trippier started 30ish games last year for Spurs), but I'm only arguing the point here because I don't want us to over-hype a 22 year old.
Fair enough. I think it says more about the lack of quality in the English talent pool than it does about Grealish's ability though.

If he’s Dembele’s replacement, im throwing myself off the Empire State Building, then dragging my body on a plane to Dubai and throwing my self off the Burj Khalifa and im only semi joking.

We needed a CM anyway without replacing Dembele. If we dont sign one and replace Dembele with an AM???????

He's not an AM

He’s a no. 8 / no.10 hybrid IMO. Closer to Eriksen than he is to Dembele. To put it another way in our system I think he’d be more comfortable playing in the advanced midfield 3 behind the striker rather than in the more defensive double pivot.

From what's been said so far this summer, I think the defensive double pivot is dead...

Do you realise that Dembele had the best dribbling stats in Europe not so long ago? Grealish, on the other hand, has shown he's above average at beating Championship players.
I'm not saying Grealish would be a bad signing, but he's currently not even close to Dembele's ability (and isn't suited to playing in the same role).

Football is reactive to innovation. The double pivot neutralised the zone around the d and now teams are going wide of that zone to find gaps. To do that, it means you relinquish the double pivot to free up players to play beyond the d. The teams that react quicker and more successfully inherit the football kingdom of their era

Couple years off of being the reality, but I could easily see Poch developing Grealish and Winks to eventually replace Eriksen and Dembele. Neither are like-for-like replacements as it stands, but they have time to develop into that caliber and they have the talent to do so under Poch.
No matter how big the club gets or how much we're able to spend on one player, I hope we always make signings like these. They're becoming pricier because of the market, but it doesn't change the fact that development of young talent will keep us insulated from the coming and going of superstars. I'm excited to see the club placing an emphasis on developing a young core while we have the opportunity to.
I'm optimistic about this signing, and wish we had gotten more like it over the line (Sancho, Sessegnon, etc.). Can't wait to see how he develops and grows into the side over the next couple of years.

To be fair flights usually do go over people's heads
sissoko had 1396 minutes last season in the premier league and statistically was our 2nd worst player in the premier league. Really not sure the downside of giving these minutes to Grealish and he will probably get more if he proves himself.

2nd worse??? Who the fuck was worse?? ?

Edit: ok read Llorente but he had so few minutes I can't see him as worse. Sissoko was diabolical at times with his touch & passing

Right I’m now on board with this signing.

Unleash the Grealish

Yeah after reading all those quotes by him that I posted yesterday I’m starting to come round too. Ultimately it’s down to the player and coaching staff to make sure he’s good enough to be a champions league level player.
