I think this recent heatwave has gotten to some people.

Every season it’s like this, it’s how we do business, we as fans may not like it, but we’re not the ones having to balance the books.

This is a different sort of transfer where the selling club doesn’t have much choice, so What’s the point in over paying for Grealish?

Paying an extra £5m just to get him in a week early, if anything villa are doing us a favour by giving him some minutes now.

I have every faith this will be completed before the tour for him to actually get used to our system.

I think with the way clubs chuck money about these days, us as fans has also get carried away with it all as well.

£5m is a lot of money that could be spent elsewhere on staff, stadium, training ground, youth. If we have to wait another week so be it.

(NOTE: I based this on the assumption that we want to pay £20m for him and villa would have accepted £25m when the window opened... and we actually sign him before the tour :cautious:)

40 degrees celsius here in Dallas, TX and I'm cool as a cucumber!

Did the conversion for you all just to be nice. It fits with the Grealish talk btw cause of the American tour, etc. It's hot AF here.

Same here in Austin and I am not. AC took its own life last night!

Same as Phoenix, but patient on the transfer front (y) A/C going out in the summer sucks, had it happen twice, trying to sleep in 108 degrees is not fun! Feel for you :(

I appreciate people get frustrated, I am frustrated, I'd have liked to have had this tied up weeks ago but the situation that has lead to the opportunity to buy Grealish is the same situation that Villa need to manage within their financial requirements which is causing the apparent delay, maybe you can't have one without the other in this case but either way you can't accept the situation in one instance and totally ignore it with the other.
If Villa didn't need to work out the finances of the money coming in they wouldn't need to sell him in the first place, swings and roundabouts and buckets of patience required.
Still, at least we're not paying nearly £70mil on a quite good goalkeeper.

It's becoming more frequent that there's a story to these signings, isn't there... A reason why the deal's can't be done in good time for the non-deadline day signings.

GKN's wasn't obvious but he spent what seemed like 10 years in a hotel room. Long walk to freedom.

Then Aurier's story (Lawyers involved)

And Lopez's story (We wouldn't pay an extra €4m).

I think the issue here is the value Villa have put on Grealish's head compared to our offer not only being lower than their set value, but further decreasing knowing their financial situation.

I think it's a case of who blinks first, with Villa hoping another club can come in and give them a more suitable financial package. Unfortunately for them they've put themselves in this mess and when that happens with Daniel, we all know how it's going to pan out.

If waiting until the last week of the transfer window shaves £10m-£15m off of the quoted fee, I actually make Daniel Levy right as he needs to ensure he gets the best possible deal for the club

I don’t mind waiting until the end of the window for Grealish if it saves £10m or so off the cost.
He’s not exactly going to make an instant impact as a starter anyway.

However hope we don’t leave it that late for our main targets - although I think we will :(

With Martial seemingly staying at Man U, a lack of concrete interest in Toby. Dembele's asking price possibly forcing a move out of reach this year and Sissoko/ Janssen not being particularly good. There'll either back a real lack of movement both ways or very much a who blinks first when it comes to English clubs.

Voting for the window to close a full 3 weeks before other clubs have to panic and get things in motion could see a very messy end to this window. Levy has to tell potential suitors for our players that if they aren't moved on before our deadline passes that no deals will be able to get done. The changes to this window will become a real uphill battle for clubs looking to sell before they buy

With other deals on ice at best until we sort out the major outgoings, I have to admit I'll be really annoyed if we can't close this deal in time for the US tour. How long have we been nailed on to sign him for now?

Getting him on that tour and integrated just seems too valuable to me. The likes of Mason and Dier made positions their own off the back of strong preseasons. Him coming in now would give us the best chance of him being a key squad member IMHO.
