quality players that unproven to the demands of the Premier League. There's a big difference playing in Ligue 1 and against teams like Monchengladbach when you're playing for a team where the occasional loss here or there isn't really going to make a difference to your abilities to win the league over the course of a season (Leipzig to Liverpool is a far bigger mental demand, the pressure is something he's yet to experience over the course of a whole season)

I like their business, in fact I'm extremely impressed with their financial muscle to do so but they've still got to gel with the team and still got to deliver

For those complaining about the negativity in the thread its just as much to do with the Ally Gold article on Grealish not being done before the US tour as what Liverpool are doing.

At least it is for me anyway.

Lol why are people saying this is a 'saga'? A 'saga' is when there's loads of twist and turns when we're interested in a player. This is just taking a long time.

Shift Sissoko out, bring Grealish in, keep hold of Toby and lose Janssen & Llorente for another attacking midfield option and we're pretty much all set.

I make that 2 squad at a minimum if Toby & Dembele stay. Not bad at all really with 3 of the busiest weeks of the window left really

To all the people already complaining about the window:

Does it not make you understand how wrong you are when you realise that the club holds back announcing new contracts for players just to appease your ADHD when there's a few weeks with no news or signings?

We can't even get the news as it happens because the club has to treat you like children :ROFLMAO:

159 pages for a player most of us couldn’t give two shits about before it became obvious we wanted him.

What a wank window.

exactly what i was thinking earlier, the fact that this is dragging on for so long and being overhyped, just goes to show what little impact we have made on the window thus far and therefore how our expectations levels have dropped

Have you guys maybe thought that any signings might be announced along with big news on the stadium (including sponsors etc.)?

Are we in DIRE need for any players in particular before the season starts or are you all just desperate for a new name to fawn over? We're in a position to get the best out of any negotiation, such is our current depth IMO. We've lost no one of note and were one of the best teams in Europe last year, let's have a bit of perspective.

Only Harry Winks is injured at the moment and he's just had the operation not long ago. I was usually one to gnash teeth a bit about windows and yes, our negotiations always seem to be painfully protracted...last year I was annoyed about the right back situation not being sorted (and wasn't Crazy Serge worth waiting for?! LOL!), but barring some actual goal scoring back up for Harry I can't see a real want in the squad.

I expect there to be moves, but honestly, I can't understand everyone's fucking hurry tbh. Getting players in as early as possible to integrate with the squad makes sense, but realistically who's going to come in and just waltz on to one of the best sides in England/Europe?!

Relax ffs.
Well mate it's not as if we're sitting on the signatures of Martial, Ndombele or even Malcom (or any player) without it getting leaked to the press. Had we shown a genuine interest, or even gone past that in trying to sign someone, we would know about it. Right now the only player close to signing seems to be Grealish, which is widely reported by several sources. Having a discussion about which players are needed for us to take the next step and actually compete for titles probably isn't a discussion for this thread, but it should be quite obvious that we're just short of a high quality/world class CM - a backup for Eriksen - and a CB depending on Toby's situation. A backup for Kane too, but that isn't as acute (in my world) as the other situations.

I wouldn't necessarily be in such a hurry if Poch hadn't gone out and publically made his point about signing before the pre-season tours, I just don't want us to let him down when we genuinely have a shot at competing for the titles, and I'm afraid that he'll sooner rather than later have enough of Levy's excessive 'wheeling & dealing'.

The Club always looks to conduct business early -- this is not always possible and contrary to the suggestion here not down to the club -- three parties need to agree any deal and that's before you have competition from other clubs or indeed outstanding decisions on other players you are pursuing. Most transfer activity takes place in the last week of the window.

Who are these 4 players? As you can't very well include Fekir amongst their signings then whinge at us for not concluding Grealish.

Edit: Forgot Shaqiri, but I definitely wouldn't be counting him as a quality signing or one that I'm jealous of. I also think including Keita as an example of their efficiency this summer is twisting things a bit given that was agreed almost a year ago. Alisson too isn't complete yet. So far, the only truly quality signing they've made this summer is Fabinho. Really, their business can be twisted to suit any agenda - if you want to have a hissy fit about it that's up to you.

I assume the 4 are: Keita, Fabinho, Alisson, and Shaqiri
Only one of whom fits the criteria of being quality and signed so far this window. So they’ve made one quality signing.

Not to mention that they’re paying double the world record fee for a GK that’s probably not top 5 in the world. If anyone thinks we’re going to operate like that then they’re mad.

Honestly using Liverpool’s window as a reason to piss the bed over ours is pathetic. (not directed at you btw. the others in this thread)

We’re close to signing Grealish, who imo is a quality player himself and finally fills that Eriksen rotation role that we’ve desperately needed for ages.

After that we only really need a quality CM and maybe a versatile forward as a bonus. I’m not convinced we need a CB even if Toby leaves.

Before they come in here to melt people also forget that for HG purposes we need to sell before buying foreign players. People can deny or complain about it all they want but it’s just reality, otherwise we’re going to have a number of unhappy players in the squad when they don’t get registered this season.

Lol. It's no wonder the itk's stay clear of this place and don't post sensitive information....chill folks, Levy, Poch and co. have this (see our three year relationship results/windows).

Interesting, because the ITK says he is not coming to rotate, but rather to be a key player.

Personally, I don't think he would come here to be Eriksen's deputy.

Perhaps that's worded poorly.

For a number of years now we've needed someone who can play the Eriksen role when Eriksen himelf isn't playing. I think Grealish is finally that man. That's not to say that they can't play together, just that he's more than capable of playing that role when Eriksen isn't there, when in the past we've look bereft of creativity when Eriksen doesn't play.

I appreciate people get frustrated, I am frustrated, I'd have liked to have had this tied up weeks ago but the situation that has lead to the opportunity to buy Grealish is the same situation that Villa need to manage within their financial requirements which is causing the apparent delay, maybe you can't have one without the other in this case but either way you can't accept the situation in one instance and totally ignore it with the other.
If Villa didn't need to work out the finances of the money coming in they wouldn't need to sell him in the first place, swings and roundabouts and buckets of patience required.
Still, at least we're not paying nearly £70mil on a quite good goalkeeper.
Sounding like Daniel Levy here ;)
