Re the delay in business, the guardian has done a piece referring to the change in transfer deadline being an issue. Amongst other things, euro clubs are going to try to exploit the different closing dates.

I also get excited about every new player. I've seen the success we've had with Alli for example. I hope Grealish turns into Gascoigne MK II. However that doesn't change the fact that we were told we would be aiming much higher this window and yet again we are shopping around in the bargain basement.

We literally scraped finishing above Liverpool season just gone and this summer they have plugged every hole in their team with proven CL quality.

Van Dijk at CB.
CM with Keite and Fabinho.
GK Allison.
Potentially Fekir as Coutinho replacement.

Sure they may not all work but no fan can fault their ambition and no-one can question the calibre of player they are signing and as fans that is all we ask for

Signing players like Grealish may not work out either so where is the ambition from Spurs? Unfortunately we can question the calibre of Grealish. Someone that nobody but midtable clubs like Leicester and West Ham were interested in.

they still have Loveran:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

we had news on de Ligt = Goal Post moved and Raiola getting involved, 1 target that become hard to get in for pre season

we have had news on Martial = price gone up, Man U not interested on selling to us

even when the 1st ITK came out about the money we had, Bale was struggling to get game time and knows if he moves from RM he won't get the wages he is on, and has also been murmurs that he would accept the same as Kane. the money he has earnt at Madrid means he is set up for life, so the "he won't come due to wages" isn't always correct. He then comes on as a sub wins the CL, adds a big fee to what was a possible fee to go to, RM sack ZZ, RM sell Ronaldo, and now a chance he will get reg play time if fit.

we then get news on Grealish, but at 1st by what I've read from the ITK, is a difference in fee, now it's Villa need it to fit their needs even though it's going to be a lot less. the only real way we get Grealish in quickly would of to of done what Liverpool have done, over pay to get it done.

until the stadium is fully paid off, there is no way we will ever have a net spend of over 100m, so if your dreaming of spending like Klopp (£410m+ to our 169m+ since he arrived), then your going to be very disappointed for the next 5-10 seasons

Happy to take this to the Levy thread but you are so wrong about the club’s finances, you seem to be buying into the lazy journalism comparing our situation to Arsenal when the market facts are entirely different.

Just for clarity. I have wanted us to sign Grealish for some years. I think he will be a top signing and be a starter for England within the year.
We will also sign a few other players as we always do towards the end of the window and there is no point looking at what others do. This is our business model and has served us well in recent years.

It has but it hasnt landed us a trophy.

Hopefully this will be the season. I agree about grealish, he could become a top player with the right manager.

We did but that season is now history. Liverpool have have signed 4 CL proven players in their weakest areas. Does anyone really feel that confident we will finish above them again as it stands now? We only finished a point of so in front, that doesn't excuse us to stand still whilst they strengthen tremendously...not to mention they made the CL final and we had a clear run in for the league.

How Liverpool have gone about their window is fantastic, they mean business.... whilst ours on the other hand? Deary me.

Rewind 12 months, I bet you can find someone posting almost this exact comment, but with Chelsea instead of Liverpool.

Bet that you cannot (that is, from a reasonable poster and in regards to Chelsea). Their TW last year was absolutely horrible and pretty universally panned as such. It was the thing that set Conte off such was it's shitness. Liverpool's TW this year has been surgical in it's approach to treating their deficiencies.

Forget the fee. They've signed 4 quality players.

Yes, yes, yes, now can you kindly go to the let's bum Liverpool thread where anyone gives a dam.

It's like signing 4 players from weaker foreign leagues who have no experience in the epl for extortionate amounts of money is actually a good thing. Do you not remember what we did with the Bale money???

Anyway we got where we are today by investing in young homegrown players and our youth system, complemented by some astute sign from other leagues.

We did it by not overpaying as well, Grealish fits into our mold. Let's wait and see what we do.

It's the emperors clothes all over again. It's expensive so it must be good.

Remember when they forked out £22.5m on Markovic? Money doesn't guarantee success! The amount of times teams have splashed out before yet achieved nothing (Man U when they pumped all of that money on Di Maria, Depay, Darmian, Rojo etc and everyone was creaming about them etc) yet still people never learn.

I'd take our settled and proven squad over their Ligue 1, 6th place Bundesliga teams and Serie A player that not long ago was playing 2nd fiddle to Szczesny every day of the week

Was this comment directed at any person in particular? Being that my comment was directly before yours and there is no other reply quoted it leads me to believe it was for me. Before I respond I would like to be sure.

I'm quite excited by this signing.
Then again I thought Stambouli was going to be decent.

Oh, you're hard. Even using an exclamation point...when a '?' would be more appropriate. So, hard but dim.

The point was, and it was made clear in my post but apparently your comprehension skills are on par with your grammatical skills, that I would like to take a measured approach and not jump at telling someone to GFY in one way or another if they didn't deserve it. I like to save those types of communications for pricks that actually deserve it. I am sure you understand what I'm saying.

Are you the grammar police? The use of the exclamation mark was intentional. You are boring !!

Having a punt on his next club is no longer an option on PP. Hopefully a positive sign!

so 3 in is the word, Grealish is 1 you would imagine

the other 2 must be a CM and CB and apparently this is going to take us to the next level

they must be a damn good CM and CB and still only one striker in the club if FL leaves

such is the life of a Spurs fan

3 minimum. Pretty sure it'll be Grealish, CM and WF, plus a CB if Toby is sold.
