Only positives right now is that ITK is saying it's as good as done, and multiple ITKs at that. Hopefully there isn't a late twist..

Personally I would believe Steve Bruce over ITKs. Pretty sure he will know what is going on at his own club. Don’t get your hopes up!

It could all just be putting pressure on Levy to pull the trigger faster too

As we've seen with Poch, Mourinho, and others, managers know how to manipulate the media and hopefully that's the case

I can’t see it. Give it until the end of tomorrow or early next week and the ITKs will be saying the same as Bruce. If Levy thought he had a done deal at 20/25 and they now ask for 35/40 he will walk away. Hard to know if he is to blame. Villa probably wouldn’t have sold without knowing if investment was coming.

Not sure he knows that much himself yet

Bruce added: “It’s only what somebody else is prepared to pay – what he’s worth. I know for a fact from the owners – new investors - anybody wanting to buy Jack Grealish will not buy him on the cheap.

Until I have the conversation I can’t really answer the question. What is he worth? Who knows?”

hmmmm Bruce certainly doesn't make this sound like it is close, and if that is the case, Levy has certainly lost this battle....

If we pay 40m though for Grealish it would be seriously concerning, so if this deal is not agreed as Bruce suggests (and fact Grealish played today I cant believe it is as close as the ITK suggest) then looks like this will drag on..

Not sure what we are going to end up with this summer, seeing Richarlison going for 50m, this is not Levy market - he is well out his league now with transfers IMO

Completely agree. And if it is the case then we need to take risks on investing in promising talent from abroad who will be more reasonably priced. What’s the point in looking at Martial, Zaha etc when we won’t pay what is needed.

I would like Grealish, but I'm not going to be heartbroken if we don't sign him. I'd like to think that we have other strong targets that would make potentially missing out on Grealish not look so bad.

I'm genuinely not sure how many people are concerned at this not happening because it's Jack Grealish or because it's simply a signing.

Maybe I'm just stupid for holding any hope in much more happening and that I too should just really hope we at least get this one over the line. Despite the predicament we're in, surely we won't have such an awful window :nailbiting:

The new owners should not affect their problems with ffp. They need to raise 40m through sales. The new owners cannot just chuck 40m in. Doesn’t work like that.

We will get Grealish. I am certain about that given how badly we need Home grown players. If we dont sign him or Zaha, we lose likes of Lamela or Foyth in PL & CL

Doesn't just keeping Onomah in the squad achieve the same thing?

Do they have to do the deal?

If the choice is 1) selling an asset well below their valuation (and they think they can sell for more later on) or 2) paying a fine and/or taking a transfer ban, then why can't they choose the latter option?

Because ffp means they have to raise that money from transfers. They cannot borrow it or use outside investment.
