Find it quite funny how often people bring up pinch of salt, etc... and doubt ITK and still put blind faith in Levy in the transfer market, especially how this one has panned out thus far.

And the rest just happened by luck I suppose ?

Nope, I'm with you on the rest - I think Levy is a brilliant businessman and has done amazing things for this club.

However, he can't take credit for the performance of the team in the last few seasons. After AVB and Sherwood, he hit the jackpot with Poch and he's done wonders with the squad he inherited and backing (or there lack of) he's received in the transfer market.

Who bought the players who make up the vast majority of this team ? Who by the way were mostly bought pre Poch.

Wasn’t it mentioned that he was our backup option? Could it mean that we are closing in our primary target? Thinking way too positive probably, but will only criticize DL on the 10th of August...

Mate, we have been punching way above what we should have been with the transfers we've been making in the market over the last few seasons.

Yes we've brought in some brilliant players, but we're Tottenham Hotspur, we've always managed to pull off a coup now and again. It's the guys like Dier, Dele, Dembele, Walker, Rose, some of which were cheap hopeful opertunistic buys, and could have quite easily become mid table players if it hadn't been for a top coach taking them on and improving them.

If you think Levy has sufficiently backed Poch in the market, as much as the other top 6 managers have been backed, you're mad.

Does anyone actually know how much we have to spend (before sales) this transfer window?

Is there a reason for the thrifty bargaining strategy?

I don't want to get into a massive debate over this in the Grealish thread, but I think that'll be an excuse that gets trotted for the foreseeable future. It does, however, conveniently ignore the fact that although expensive to build, it will generate enormous amounts of income.

The "enourmous income" that will pay it off?

Regardless of however you want to cut the cloth, it isn't yet open, hasn't yet made a penny, and a number of factors have surely meant that a careful approach is required until things like naming rights and so on are confirmed.

I mean, call me silly, but I'd rather we finish the stadium than sign a player that everyone seemed to think was beneath us 3 weeks ago...

Come on then, let's take it to the stadium area of the forum

You can choose the individual thread we debate this in (y)

It's been done to death, I'm just sick of people pretending we aren't financing over £0.5bn of project and asking "why are we being careful with money?"
