I wonder what substantially more than £20m is ? 30M ?

Bit of a gamble at that higher end, to say the least.
Just want to point out that 30m this season is about equivalent to 15m three seasons ago. The market is so inflated.

I mean Maddison went for 26m, in that context Villa have every right to hold on for 30m, its just the reality of the market. A market Levy is reluctant to go with, which is why we have made no signings.

From what I gather, Matt Scott is a highly respected (arsenal based admittedly) journalist. The consensus among their fans is that if he says something, it happens.

I like Grealish as a player, always looks forward and makes things happen.

If his name was Grealishivic and he was Croatian, our fans would be very excited.

Maddison was never an option after the abuse he hurled at spurs and in particular bale after what he said he does not deserve a spurs deal

Wouldnt fit in with our home grown quota, so we would pass! :cautious:;)

How do you think this has got to 279 pages. It isn't all a discussion on his hair, socks and beautiful calf muscles.

don't forget his chiseled facial features :hungry:

Should of signed Maddison instead if we were looking for an Eriksen alternative. Shits over grealish for goals and assists.
tbf Maddison played twice as many games as Grealish last season so the stats are well inaccurate, generally speaking Grealish creates more but scores less.

However, its not fair to judge on stats, Grealish would regularly dominate games in the championship and has clearly still a lot of room to grow into. Haven't seen Maddison as much so can't really comment too much, but when signing a player from a lower division stats are often very misleading whats more important is to look at the potential of how they could do in a better league. From what I've seen Grealish is ready to make the step up and with the right coaching and right attitude he could go very far.

You first sentence is wrong (other than the twice as many minutes bit). Maddison creates more chance and scores more goals per 90 minutes.

Grealish didn't regularly dominate games either.

You guys must watch a lot of full championship games unlike myself so I am unable to judge.

I make judgment using fantasy football points... bomb proof method, but sadly only works on premiership players lol

We've been linked to a Slovakian, about the same age, doing it in a better league, and the consensus seems mixed on him so..

If this lad turns out to be our only signing, I'll feel sorry for him to be honest. The fan fallout and the pressure will be enormous.

I'd be really happy with this transfer if it was one of many, say our fourth signing after successfully recruiting a new forward, CM and CB, but as possibly our only signing it can't help but feel underwhelming. I think most Spurs fans feel the same way.

If it happens, which looks likely, hopefully he can really push on with us and be a great player for years to come. I'll support him no matter what. Fingers crossed we can get a couple more across the line, though.

Telegraph are reporting that we’ve bid £25m tonight and are waiting for a reply from AVFC.

Considering JJ said Grealish is not 'our first choice' i'm guessing it's pretty much nailed this will be our only signing. Unless the Martial/Alderweireld swap actually happens.

Maybe meant not in that particular position? fingers crossed. Dan KP went for a holding midfielder, grealish and a forward with a defender should Alder go. heres hoping.

I'm going

Lobotka
Grealish
Martial or Bailey
De Ligt

Luckkkk be a lady tonighhhhtt
