Think 25M is a very reasonable bid to be honest. Flip side can see why villa want more he’s there best hope of promotion.. Feel sorry for Grealish in all this who seems to of acted immaculately considering the circumstances. Been put in a position where if he really wants the move he’ll have to shit all over his childhood club. Bet he’s devestated

The Sky>Skybet argument is the most boring argument during the transfer window

It's the shittest moneyspinner ever. Transfer bets have max stake like £10-£20. I highly doubt Rupert Murdoch is rubbing his hands at the thought of Keith from Dudley chucking a fiver on Grealish to stay at Villa at 1/5

$940 million is small?
Their stake was 20% so not big.

You don't need to be Agatha Christie to notice there's a business partnership that still exists - their transfer news is still intertwined with the odds on SkyBet

So they'd make up all this stuff, including supposed quotes from the chairman of Villa, thus damaging their credibility, to attract more bets to Sky Bet, who are owned by a different company.

No, they wouldn't. People need to stop being ridiculous.

The point is that Sky Sports are generally unreliable and do tend to make shit up.

As a very safe rule, I'd suggest that you take media reports with a bucket of salt. It's crazy season for the next 30 hours, and they'll do anything for a click

No-one should ever take Sky Sports seriously within 48hrs of a transfer window closing. They love their 'deal is off' then 2hrs later, 'deal is on again' hijinks.

I can't believe people still buy into the SSN drama at the end of the window. This will be back on again for late deadline day drama.

Yes, it's actually pretty normal behaviour. Hence why they hide behind "Sky Sources". Lyall Thomas lives for it.

You know they will probably still have affiliations for bets, even if the company is of separate ownership

Yeah i'm not totally buying this. Villa need the money. Grealish is at the stage in his career where he needs to push on and won't want to be in the championship for another season. Sky like a deadline drama etc.

The irony is, Levy is a football guy. He wants this club to do well and become the very best. But at the same time he's got his business head on - and with a budget he's been given. Sometimes it's a catch 22 situation. Put yourself in his shoes - he wants us to do well, he goes to every game and is trying to do the best to appease the fans. There's no way he's doing this to try and piss on anyone's chips. It's just getting a little frustrating and I think he's been caught out a few times during this window which isn't usually something that happens. Or doesn't appear to.

Frustrating as hell though, I agree.
It's reported the difference between what we want to pay for Grealish and what Aston Villa want is £7,000. If we could not cough up say £4,500 to make this deal, it says either we lack the paltriest of financial resources or the ambition.
