The report of us offering Onomah + 3m at the start of the window is so crazy it has to be true. It would be such a Levy move to offer that to a club in financial crisis.

Even If their new owner was Bill Gates, he wouldn't be able to help them regarding Championship FFP. We know it, does their new owner understand it?

Sure - but that won't be this season. And, if they can get promoted, then it won't be a factor until they are relegated again.

Hell of a gamble, and one imo that won't pay off. They failed last season with a stronger side than they have this.

They gambled big last season and lost which put them in the situation they're in now. Would be madness to go again with an even worse hand but maybe the new owners don't understand how much shit thet're in already.

I don't disagree. But, I don't have the kind of money these owners have - I am just pointing out that someone with their resources could opt to go in a different direction.

Why do people give SSN the light of day? They go back and forth on deals coming up to and on deadline day to keep you interested all day long.

Villa still not officially made a statement to say he's staying, just sky sources. That to me speaks volumes

To be fair Sky's source could be Villa Steve who drinks down my local. He's been saying all Summer he won't leave villa.

He also wear shorts all winter and jeans all Summer, but that's for a different thread.

They could, but I know a little bit about what they are trying to do to circumvent the ffp threat, and they are obviously worried about it because they are trying everything to do so. Will still come down to player sales at the end of the day though imo.

Can't they wait until January for sales though? Any sales right now would be on the 18-19 books, so, if I were them, I would give it a go with my best possible team until January - then start to look at player sales depending on where they are in the table...

McGinn could make sense. Looks a very tidy player indeed, one who IMO could perform in the Premier League and would get a move there if he was either two years younger or playing anywhere except Scotland. Been linked with Celtic all summer (he's a huge fan and his granddad was chairman) but it didn't happen despite Hibs apparently only wanting £3m - makes sense if he was waiting to see if a move to England, or Villa in particular, transpired first.

This 'similar clubs' in for Grealish thing is hilarious. Not a single other club has been named and even the Villa 'sources' cannot name them but we're supposed to believe another top 4 team is in for Grealish too - because that's what a club of similar size and stature means.

Still think this will happen. If the word from Villa is true, why would the mention Spurs by name, but not the ‘other similar sized club’. Makes no sense.

I think they are either trying to squeeze more out of Levy, want JG to submit a transfer request or both.

Yeah, but we’ve been married 8 years now and I love him anyway.

When Chelsea pay £71m for a relatively unknown goalkeeper then it shows we are swimming in totally different size ponds.

Yes, in our pond we have a loyal world champion keeper, and in their pond they have a wantaway keeper who has 3 weeks to wiggle out of their squad.

Leicester paid 20 to 22 mil for Maddison. Who probably had a better season with the same sort of potential. So I don’t blame us for not wanting to pay anymore than 25 mil. Let their chairman keep an unhappy player and see how much he kicks off??
