Arsenal battling Tottenham for Manchester City wonderkid Jadon Sancho as England U17 starlet stalls over new deal

Sancho, 17, is yet to put pen-to-paper on a new deal at the Etihad to put the north London rivals on red alert

Tottenham and Arsenal are battling it out to sign Manchester City wonderkid Jadon Sancho.

City are desperately trying to get England under-17 starlet Sancho to commit his future to the club.

But he has yet to put pen-to-paper on a new deal leaving the door open for the north London duo.

Bundesliga runners-up Red Bull Leipzig, who have been keeping an eye on the best young English talent, are also keen on the attacking midfielder, 17.

City want to sign Spurs's £50m right-back Kyle Walker.

And Spurs have already had an attempt to include Sancho - currently training with City's first team ahead of their pre-season tour to America - in the deal knocked back.

Meanwhile, long-term Sancho admirers Arsenal could make a similar demand if City firm up their interest in their Chilean talisman Alexis Sanchez.

Sancho, star of the Young Lions side who finished runners-up at the under-17 Euros in May, is one of the best talents of his age in Europe.

He won the prestigious Golden Player award, handed to the tournament's best player and previously won by the likes of Toni Kroos, Wayne Rooney and Cesc Fabregas, after scoring or setting up 10 of England's 15 goals in Croatia.

And he could leave for less than £500,000 training compensation this summer if City are unable to persuade him to sign a new contract.

He's a brilliant talent. Would be quite a coup if we could bring him here.

That all said this seems like an agent job to get more money.

Has been happening recently at City with Tosin Adarabioyo (sp.) last year. Agents know they can draw even more exorbitant fees out of City to keep the youth players there. The youth are already on eye watering money but if they threaten to run down their contract they can basically get wages that are similar to what we pay first teamers.

Exceptional talent who I believe is a bench player as things stand. He is that good. I would not believe he wants to go somewhere to be in DS (Dev'mnt sq'd).

With the insane cost of players you are going to see these links more frequently I suspect.

I get the impression from the few comments here this is an exciting link.

Just to piggyback on what @Gbspurs said I think it may have been one of the ITK who mentioned in a post earlier in the window who said that teams develop. Squads and the youth in the under 21's etc would become increidbly important for all teams in the Prem. moving forward into the future with not only building squads but also within the transfer market.

Makes me glad for what Poch and those involved have already done and continue to do with the bringing on of youth for the future at Tottenham.

Going back to the link, is this just paper talk or anyone with perhaps a far more informed opinion think this has any legs or could play a part in a deal for Walker?

Pep rates him highly. Integrated into the first team training. Good attitude. Won't leave City where is comfortable.
The cynical me would suggest; was it a ploy to encourage him to sign? Regarding throwing enough digits as someone alluded to, this can be componsated as soon out of contract.

I'd imagine their signing Silva, whilst already having De Bruyne etc, would detract from any assurances they can give?

hes only young, just say youll be involved in early rounds of the cup, loan moves, whatever. no good club is gonna have him be a starter in the league for at least a couple years

Guy is a massive talent. Be very surprised if he hung around couple years.

Edwards was/is in the same situation no?
18 now and still here

If he is super rated city will do what it takes unless there's issues outside of money and first team progress. City desperately need English players too.

@holsten777 what part of that complex formula that city will hang onto him at all cost are you having trouble cracking ?
