This strikes me as him deciding to go somewhere else and we're trying to save face. I can't shake this feeling of him ending up at Arsenal. Wouldn't be surprised if we've been strung along all through this.

Maybe the player has had a change of heart. Club would not want to lose face hence why they would put it out there that they have dropped interest.

I obviously hope this is not the case and somehow the deal can be resurrected but it does not look great right now.

If so I think this story would be running through more than just Dan. It would be going through all our normal beat writers like Ben and Ally, both of whom have been quiet on it and will normally just retweet each other if one breaks a story.

Possibly, though that would be a strikingly Machiavellian tactic from him, and to what end? Higher wages?

And what would we then come out and say "well we didn't want him, so no big deal", only for him to say "No, Arsenal were always my first choice"

Just feels a bit far fetched.

My guess is City have, as leverage, threatened to report us for tapping Sancho. Which could theoretically lead to a transfer ban.

So we, for our own leverage, have leaked that we don't have to take him.

Or are we are not pursuing this month as we have to wait for a tribunal to resolve the matter. As City refuse to agree a fee.

he has one year left on his apprenticeship. Can you even buy a player that young? I was under the impression City would have to release him for him to play/sign for us?

He can sign a pro contract with anyone but unless city agree a fee to release him he can only train with new club until the scholarship is finished. The tribunal will decide the fee then

That's what I thought, so the idea that we've agreed a fee with City cant be true.

Is that really likely? Is he (or I suppose his agent) already that much of a prick at 17? I have a bit more faith in people but you might be right

remember the Pogba situation at man utd. He wanted ridiculous money and fergie said no so he went to juventus.

maybe sancho wants guarantees of chances? this is the reason he wants to leave city and something that Poch wouldn't give until he has seen him in training?

To quote Roger Daltry "Say it ain't so Joe?" A few days ago I thought we had Sancho AND Sessegnon in the bag. It looks now as if we haven't even got the bloody bag.

Sounds like we put a lot of groundwork in on this one... has been rumbling on for a while.

be surprised if we suddenly pulled the plug on it at the last minute.

We do love to latch on to one piece of news don't we?

Whether it's positive or negative.

Tends to be more damning/exciting when it's multiple noises. The odd dissenting or positive voice never really hits the mark with me, I like to take an average of the responses.

Still hopeful on this one - based on nothing but feeling.
