Terrible news, devastating for him. I hope the operation scheduled for next week is successful and he makes a good recovery.

Indeed, terrible news for the guy, still so much potential for his career. Sadly it's something that will affect him for the rest of his life, but when you weigh that up against having a life for it to affect, it's a no brainer.

Best of luck, James.

Just seen this, really sad news...although I suppose it's better being detected early than having another Muamba incident.
Good luck Titch!!

Better we're on here sympathising over his retirement than his death.

Hopefully he'll find another role in the game which he'll find rewarding - maybe Sky will come calling!

Good player, and should have made more England appearances than he did.

Good luck James.

Sad news this but better to keep it in check. All the best to the bloke!

Was just starting to cement his place in the England side. Gutting news for him and England.

Really gutted for him.

We should get Inzi in as a coach to teach him how to play with minimal physical exertion.

Absolutely gutted for 'Titch', he was really starting to look the part after having had to wait so long for an overdue recall.
Between Notts, Sky and the ECB though he'll at least have the opportunity to stay in the game whilst maintaining his health.

Would have been next England Captain imo.

Health is more important obviously as you say. Hope he is allowed to stay in the game coaching at the top level.
