Jamie Redknapp: Mauricio Pochettino has to start Harry Kane

MP doesn't have to play anyone. He just has to win games. When other managers (Pardew for example) make substitutions that turn the game around it's seen as genius. When our man does it, everyone just says he was wrong not to start the player(s) in the first place.

It's funny that the two Sky Sports analysts yesterday who were the most disparaging of Spurs performance were Souness and Redknapp, the ones with ties to the club and potential scores to be settled. I'm not saying their points weren't valid but there was a sense of them relishing the opportunity to have a go at "same old Spurs". It was left to an ex-Gooner in Niall Quinn to fight our corner and see rays of light. I personally would start Kane but Redknapp is clearly setting him up for a fall by making it sound like the only option. And if it doesn't work out you have a young striker whose confidence could be dented and the knives will be out again.

I thought playing two up top was encouraging - more of that at the Lane please - and Adebayor's record against Villa made it hard for him to be dropped. In the end he was poor and deserved to be subbed but I can see the manager's logic in starting him. And Soldado always looks better with a partner.

What I still don't understand is why Kaboul and Adebayor were made Captain and Vice-Captain which obviously makes dropping them harder than it needs to be...

I was surprised Souness didn't say 'Spurs biggest problem is they're playing like Liverpool' because we're both too slow going forward, cant defend and are toothless upfront.
I actually agreed with all 3 of them. They all made valid points especially about lack of urgency which, as Ive said on another thread, is what our young players are bringing to the party imo.

Actually I agree with them we look far to soft, no closing down no fight, Verts does not look like he wants to be at spurs. Capoue needs to man up and get in peoples faces, Ade needs to start to impose himself like Drogba or Benteke. When sourness said "when Ade looks back on his career he will think what if" it's so true he has everything except fight and passion. I have heard his attitude is a huge problem at spurs he brings down moral when his not up for playing. He really should be a world class striker but he can't be arsed.

Agreed and our young players are showing passion and fight which is what we are missing. You don't see john terry get bullied yet kaboul is faster and bigger, you don't see capoue get in people's face harraess them like Parker or placious or David's.

I would like to see Kane upfront with Chadli just behind him. Oh hang on, they're actually our two topscorers

We're fucking shit, we got a lucky win against a shit shit villa team only when they were reduced to ten men.
And yet people on here still take offense when we're criticised and put it down to pundit bias?

Get real folks. We pay badly, struggle to score and create chances and we get stick. That's how it works.

Do you think Newcastle, villa, Burnley and Sunderland fans all thought they were being victimised while getting beat every week??

We had 19 shots, 7 on target, missed some absolute sitters (Kaboul, Adebayor (x2), Soldado) and didn't look vulnerable at the back, apart from their goal. Their player got sent off because two of our players got stuck into him in quick succession: Benteke knew he was in a fight, and lost his cool. We went 1 nil down away from home, kept on fighting, made a good substitution, and won the game. Our players showed magical levels of passion, as did the supporters. Sometimes you have to grind out a win, because hey, in case you hadn't noticed, both teams usually want to win a football match, and you can't always have things your own way.

What's not to like?

Nobody is wrong all the time.
Me or any pundit.
But I have a team to support
and not an axe to grind.

He is just bitter that we sacked his Dad. Every comment he makes about Spurs is negative. At least that makes him like all the other Sky pundits. The boy is an air head and I do not know why Spurs Community even report on what he says.

When 4 of your opening 12 words are swear words, that's when you know it's time to stop posting.

Have a little sit down and maybe a cup of tea.

I watched the punditry. Couldn't really argue with much of it. We did look poor for much of the game, Mason and Kane aside.

Sourness (phone made that typo but I quite like it and am leaving it in) sits there looking like a man who can't believe the world around him. Why can't men be men. He looks genuinely furious 75% of the time.

He's probably thinking that he has the potential to be a match winner for us every week and by giving him the added responsibility and making him feel more senior it might push him to play better

At the moment it doesn't seem to be working

Redknapp is a bitter little moaner with an agenda. Most of the stuff he says is before the game has started with him basically giving us no chance. I can't remember the game it was but he was slagging Poch and the players off pre game and we came out and won it, he hated it. It was probably the Southampton game actually.

It was Southampton.
To be fair, having lost to wba, lolerpool, Newcastle and city as well as drawing with shitty Sunderland, he's got good cause to predict we'll struggle.
three of those losses were against rubbish teams at home and we didn't even score a goal.

The football hasn't been good this season but to be fair we dominated Newcastle for 70 minutes or more of that game without creating brilliant chances. West brom was a massive smash and grab and Sunderlands fans said afterwards we could of beaten them 5 or 6-1.

Losing to Liverpool and City when you consider the penalty decisions and fact we were firmly in both of those games most of the way is hardly making your point.

Redknapp has a massive agenda and has since his dad got walked off the premises. This will never change even if we are top of the league.
