Jan Vertonghen says the "total picture" at Tottenham Hotspur convinced him to sign a new contract with the club, but added he is unlikely to finish his career at White Hart Lane.

You can say it all you like, but until I see Poch play over 30's I will stick to the evidence - he likes younger, fitter, faster and more physical players rather than old hats with experience.

We have the youngest average age because of this.

We have the youngest average age because of this.
Yes, that is so now while he's building a system and a project.

Assuming we keep the stability that we seem at last to have found, I wouldn't be surprised if Pochettino hangs onto the older players who have trained in his system for most of their careers. They can teach the younger ones, as well as fulfilling a squad role.

That's different from signing older players who already have their style established.

We will only ever know the answer to this if pochettino is a success and spends 6+ years at spurs.

I suspect to fit in with the pochettino system you have to be fast and fit enough. Players might have to accept a lesser role as they age and younger players emerge.
Vertonghen's comments suggest he knows this.
