I can't see why it would make sense for Arp. He is a carbon copy of Kane (albeit with better technique) and more than anything needs game time. Which he wouldn't get here.

Massive talent, but when he moves it will be to somewhere he's guaranteed playing time. If he comes here, it won't be until Kane is in decline.

Why do we have to wait for a Kane decline to improve the squad? Would you rather a youthful player who idolises Kane supports Spurs and could reach a whole new level to come off the bench or Llorente When we play 5-3-2 he could partner up top giving the opportunity to rotate Alli Eriksen

We don't need a pure number 9 as backup to Kane. If we're going to get a backup, he needs to be able to play on the wing too, just as Son can do. A pure number 9 will get the odd appearance here and there. It won't be enough for a young up and coming player imo.

And what rumoured players have we been linked with/are available can play 9 and wide?? Surely easier to get a younger 9 then get a player who can play wide and CAM? (Mahrez)

I don't know but that doesn't change my argument. Why get a pure number 9 as backup when he'll hardly ever play? If we get a player that can also play attacking mid/wide forward, he can rotate in with our other attacking mids. As far as I'm concerned Son is adequate backup to Kane anyway. Only my opinion, doesn't affect what the club does.

If we have any chance to get this lad it would be a cant miss opportunity. He's not just a pure #9, he can play across the front line and in the hole. Him and Harry's movement and appriciation for space would be devastating together and could really tear teams apart. He'd be a great option to help us breakdown teams who park the bus.

Can he? I've only heard about him as a striker. Is he fast enough to play on the wing?

I dont think he's played any other position but bc of his playing style he moves all across the pitch much like Kane. He drifts outwide, drops deep, can be bit of a battering ram, and is willing to run behind a back 4 at the right times. I'd like to see how Kane and him move and play off each other as they both can do anything which would make them so hard to predict.

I'm sure he could play as AML he isnt the fastest but he is quick over short spurts and overall he is faster than Kane but the difference isnt massive. He's just a pure footballer, who thinks the game really well, that's what we need to continue to the squad over anything else imo.

Lad probably has a step more pace than Harry tbh. He is a serious talent. But he's a pure striker. You won't see him lining up anywhere but at centre forward.

Yeah to get the best out of him on a consistent basis he'd need to be played centrally. I'd bet that he could do a job outwide for a game or so, but never for a long stretch. Much like how Son can do a job as a striker for a game, but shouldnt be depended upon to lead the line for a considerable amount of time.

Well, if you read the post you're quoting, it wasn't talking about what we should do, but about what Arp will do. He's the one who wouldn't join til Kane is in decline because it doesn't make any sense for him to come here. This is real life, not fantasy football.

Arp is a very level-headed, smart lad from a wealthy background. He won't merely go chasing the biggest contract but he will make sure wherever he goes is the best spot for his development as a football player. Thanks to us having the best centre forward in the world, that isn't here.

Agreed. Son can deputise fairly effectively, but that means no options for who plays behind; we've basically for five players for four slots (Eriksen, Alli, Son, Lamela, Kane), and four of these play pretty much every game that matters. Would be nice to have another option.

We really need a player who can cover up front (in a different manner to Kane, ie the opposite of Janssen) and play behind. I'm sure fluidity in attack is a big part of why City and Liverpool score so many. Liverpool haven't played with a recognised striker since Suarez left and Sturridge got permacrocked.

If we get Mahrez, we don't even have to play a recognised central striker if Kane is unavailable. The quartet of Mahrez, Delli, Son and Lamela could do fast interchanges so much that opposing centre backs won't even know what will hit them.

I like this kid. Hope his sudden following of some Spurs players' instagram carries something to be excited about.
