Llorente will likely get one more chance to play 90mins against Rochdale. He really needs to put away a chance or three to have any shot of staying beyond the summer I feel.

A confidence boost is badly needed.

How many goals did Janssen score before injury? Eek just had a look, 12 appearances, 3 goals.

Really disappointed in Llorente last night. Looked like he couldn't give a toss.

Spurs - where strikers go to die.

Harry Kane aside (As he’s homegrown) we’ve had some shocking striker signings over the years. Who was the last consistently good one we bought? Ade for a loan season? Berbatov?

Harry Kane is a striker vampire who feeds on the talent of other strikers to make him into the ultimate scoring machine

The victims are then footballing husks doomed to miss chances in the mongolian league for eternity

Already been said but I suspect the answer is neither of them.

Llorente was a relatively low budget risk anyway, and Janssen is young enough that we should be able to make some of our money back.

Sell them both and bring in a younger striker who can also play behind the front three (someone like Batshuayi but better). With that player and Son we then have plenty of options upfront.

It makes me laugh that anyone is surprised that Llorente seems to be performing as poorly as Janssen. It's like no one seems to get that if you buy a striker and only play him sporadically and never to his actual strengths that it will effect his confidence.

To answer the OP I absolutely would rather have Llorente. He has proven throughout his career that he is a top striker and it's only his confidence and rhythm that is affecting his form. Class is permanent though and I would rather a proven player coming on to make the difference in a tight game than Janssen who has never reached the levels Llorente has in his career.

People seem to forget that Janssen looked totally either shit scared or sometimes tried way to hard last season. Llorente just looks very very rusty in front of goal but in general play he links pretty well.

Above all though, it seems Llorente gets on well with the group. Everyone respects him and likes having him around and for a player who hardly gets a kick I would rather that than Janssen who seemed generally unhappy and sulky at not being picked more often.

This is an important point. It's a bit like the job of a back up quarterback in the NFL. You're not going to always get a Nick Foles, but you want someone who brings good energy to the group, and gets on with everyone. I suspect last season Janssen's mental struggles made him somewhat awkward to be around on the training pitch, a bit like the elephant in the room. Llorente's seen it all before.

I lost the little faith I had remaining in Llorente when I watched him in the half time interval once.

Llorente was in the box and Foyth was putting in some crosses. Anything on his head he was fine with, however any time he had to use his feet he managed to always miss the target.

This may seem a little harsh judgement but please bear in mind all the shots were from about 4 yards and there was no bloody goalkeeper.

Players like Llorente or Janssen are not the answer unfortunately as both need to be the main man and that will never be the case. Sign a young player like Arp who will be hungry and allow him time to develop. Son would then be the senior back up when needed.

I think people are forgetting just how bad Jansen was. People having a pop at Llorente for last night need to rewatch the cup tie versus Aston Villa last season to see what a truly waste of space striker looked like.

Ade had 2 good seasons in 3 before he went crazy. And Defoe was consistent after we bought him back.
