Tottenham striker Vincent Janssen will imminently quit the club after being stripped of the number nine shirt, according to a club insider.

Such high hopes for him when he signed, two seasons later we don't have a number 9.

just shows what a ruthless business football can be, its a real pity it didn't work out for him with us, but I hope he gets a good deal somewhere else.

It's a bit melodramatic to say he's been 'stripped' off the shirt (as if he's in disgrace). Fact is, he won't be playing for us again so he doesn't need a shirt number.

Agree on melodramatic - and the headline is a little misleading - as I think the term "quit" in this case is used to indicate he will leave on loan or sale, rather than simply quit football.

Come on Japhet, go with the drama, id say Vinny has been shunned by Poch.

Another complete waste of time. Seriously, when was the last time we signed a successful striker (not counting kane of course)?! I’m thinking it was the resigning of Defoe back in 2009.

I was kind of hoping we would keep signing strikers - it could be a running gag, kind of like drummers in Spinal Tap

Presumably he has not been allocated a squad number as he put us over the quota for non-homegrown players.

The few times he did play I was actually very impressed with his hold up play. He was very unselfish and tremendously strong with his back to goal. I wish him all the best as he is a good player ?❤

I liked Hélder Postiga mainly because the one and only league goal he scored for us was against Liverpool at WHL. I was there in the front row of the South Stand ??❤

I agree with that. There must have been something behind the scenes that didn't work with Poch. He seemed to tick quite a few boxes. Strong hold up play, generally intelligent in terms of movement and sharpness of shooting/finishing (even though he didn't score many). Thought he was deserving of a bit of run in the first team rather than just domestic cups. There were some stories floating around about work ethic in training - who knows. But wish him well. Still young and hopefully can get his career back on track.

He didn't have the mentality to make it with us, head constantly dropped and hid from the ball way too much and that isn't going to work for Poch. A bad investment in the end, guess we thought that we could improve him in that respect but obviously not.

Janssen? He erm.. chocked on vomit.

Was actually someone elses vomit.

They dont know whose it was.
You cant like, dust for vomit. :ROFLMAO:

Soldado? Spontaneous combustion.

Adebayor? He died in a bizarre gardening accident. Authorities said best just left alone.

On the os his profile pic is the only one not wearing this seasons shirt too

Missed the photo shoot.

First season - Adebeyor. Wasn't as prolific as Kane but scored more than most.
Before him but after Defoe - Berbatov?

Bit of a stretch to list sharpness of shooting as a positive point for him. Showed anything but for us unfortunately.

Who on earth is Lillywhite_Rose??
That article claims they're an "insider" but looking at their twitter account they're nothing more than a normal fan.

Was it really only one goal? God, I remember being so excited we signed him.
