Why spend money? Bring in some loans (with a view to buy just in case they turn out to be awesome) and re-assess in july.

My thoughts exactly! Surely we can sign a couple of decent players on loan for now?!

Surely buying a couple of experienced players would not be the worst thing even in the eyes of the board. If resale value is the most important aspect of the transfer, then an experience player may not be sold for a profit but would bring the value of the team (and hence the younger players) to a new level.

If they wanted to sell a few player after that, then so be it. As much as I hate to say it, but how much value has Gilberto raised at the Arsenal even if he has not actually been sold for a profit?

We need a CB & a CM desperately, if we're to qualify for Europe through a cup then we need to strengthen the squad as much as we can. Hopefully we'll have a good run in all three and that will mean a hell of a lot more games. Once the injured come back it won't look too bad but knowing Spurs some other fucker will get injured then.

Maybe stating that we are not looking to sign anyone in Jan is a move to strengthen our bargining postion. If teams think we are desperate to buy and know we will do so at all costs they are likely to hold out for more money (basic supply and demand principles) thus if people think we are not so keen to sign (and the still want to sell) they more be more inclined to accept a lower fee

Inter Milan seem to be hoarding a lot of defenders, I don't know which ones are in or out of favour at the moment though. Any chance we could poach one under the cover of night.

If a deal was possible then it would probably be for either Cordoba or Burdisso, and I dont think either of them would help us much. Could take a look at AC though, Kaladze would be a good short term signing as an experienced CB/LB

Real loaned Woodgate out not too long ago...

Excluding Woodgate who’s probably got the worst injury record ever, that and the fact that Real just wanted to get his wages off their books.

I think you’ll find that type of player isn’t going to be available without a massive risk attached, ie Woodgate..

Cordoba is a great player and would definitely help us.

Saying that I think Graham Roberts would help us!

We need the Henrik Larsson of CB's. We could really do with doing what Man Utd did last January; A quick fix, ready made, boil-in-the-bag behemoth of experience and composure.

Try telling Levy that...
