Agree that Castles is usually a terrible source but I don't see this one coming off. Defoe will stay and a replacement will only come in for Ade. Even then I could see the role being given to Kane.

Just can't ever see this happening guys, and tbh his not the kind of second striker we need.
If we're looking to bring in another striker I think we need to look at a flexiable option that can play wide as well, is a large athletic forward i.e. hulk, damio etc. In JD we have one of the best "Off the bench" strikers in the league already and after his last adventure I can't see him wawnting to leave the club even if he isn't a starter.

Tottenham prepare January move for Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez

Tottenham are considering a January move for Manchester United’s Javier Hernandez after the striker admitted he may have to leave Old Trafford to seek regular first-team football.
The Mexican hitman told reporters last week that, while he enjoyed life with the Premier League champions, he is hungry for more playing time.
Hernandez is a prolific scorer for United whenever he gets on the pitch but has seen his chances of regular starts diminish behind the likes of Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck.
Tottenham were considering a move for the 25-year-old in the summer before securing the services of Roberto Soldado for £26million.
And manager Andre Villas-Boas is considering going back to United with a firm offer when the transfer window reopens as he is still keen for more options up front.
La Liga outfit Atletico Madrid are also believed to be interested in Hernandez, who has scored 51 goals in 122 appearances for United since joining from Guadalajara for £8million in 2010.

A brilliant finisher and a player I rate very highly but another striker who can't really play up front on his own in the PL.

We need a Benteke/Lukaka type imo, otherwise Hernandez will end up isolated in the same way Soldado has been so far.

Can I be incredibly unpopular and say I actually think Welbeck'd be a better striker in the system we play now than Hernandez?

This post makes me queasy.

Well Welbeck actually gets involved in play, that's why I said it. I don't rate him higher than Hernandez but we'd have no difference in our team now if we had Hernandez than Soldado, because the problem isn't the striker, it's the service.

I guess I see your point, kind of but I just hate Welbeck as a footballer, he's so fucking unnatural to watch

Another link.

I like him but he's too similar to Defoe and Soldado in his playing style. We need different options. If Soldado can't thrive in our system then I don't think Hernandez will either. We need a target man/big bastard who can bring others into play if we're planning on getting shut of Ade. Ideally that would be Benteke or someone cheaper like Traore.

If we're upgrading on Defoe though then fuck yes. He's 6 yrs younger and twice as good.

There's no rule that says we need that. The problem with those strikers is that they aren't ready to "spring the trap" because they've dropped off the CBs in order to link up with the midfield, and because they are generally slower players. My impression is that we are not trying to get strikers who nicely link up play with the midfield in the build up, but who take up dangerous positions that can be taken advantage of with precise passing and crossing. It will work when the 5 midfielders/wingers and two fullbacks become more penetrative and start playing on the same wavelength. I think that is one problem with playing Sigurdsson on the left, is that we need someone a little more active on that side apart from popping up and scoring goals at the right moments.

Hernandez though I think would be a perfect player for us, if we just had him and Soldado as a strike force and were able to get rid of Defoe and Ade I would be pretty happy with that.
