Im sure MoPo and Mitchell has been monitoring J Rod's progress, if they are truly interested in bringing him to Spurs. So will know the probability of him getting back 100% again. Regarding his injuries, im more confident with MoPo and his team in managing J Rod's recovery. The fitness and the injury report of the Spurs players this season is truly impeccable; Top notch.

With a cruciate injury, no one can know that probability. They can make very rough estimates, but that's about it. And an excellent fitness program will help prevent injuries, but it will serve little purpose for a cartilage band that's already been torn.

If he doesn't play this season, we should only pursue this if Saints are willing to sell for piss cheap.

How similar is his injury to Sandro's ACL?

For us to know the exact details it'd have taken a slip of the tongue or an outright breach of confidentiality, but I'd guess from the duration of times out and struggle to recover that each were complete tears.

Yeah, I'd imagine you're right.

Big no from me then.

Agree. In a nutshell, what i'm trying to say is that if MoPo is still very interested in J Rod's coming to Spurs, he needs to do his risk assessments. Knowing Jay Rod's progress and knowing Jay Rod's personally (his character and determination) will help him further in that risk assessments, couple with his team capabilities in managing injuries. Also the selling price would play a major part of that risk assessments. Personally, i think anything above 10 million pounds will be a very very big gamble with the injury that J Rod's sustained.

Levy will be doing the risk assessments, I would of thought.

Anymore than £5m would be a risk, IMO

We'll obviously put him through his paces before signing him. If he's fit, then I'm all for it. He can take the pressure off Kane while also playing wide left when needed. Scored 14 prem goals last year and missed the last three months of the season. He knows Poch, knows the system and it works for him. If fit, he'd be perfect.
You can put a player through his paces all you want, he could still break down at any time. It would be utter stupidity to sign a player that hasnt played competitive football for well over a year.

Poch won't just sign him for the sake of it, he'll know the situation better than anyone.

If he was fit would Southampton even play him if they know he's looking to move on in the summer anyway? They might be a bit pissed off with him?

Yup, agree. Personally for me......i likened this J Rod's injury and us being interested, is similar to Ruud Van Nistelrooy's injuries and Man U being interested.

This thinking work both ways IMHO. If they are very sure he is "gone" and he is ok now to play.....the sensible thing (finance wise is to play him) and hope he plays well (further bargaining power to squeeze more $$ out of the impending transfer). Unless there is already an agreement behind doors not to play him and Spurs paying them a sum of $$ that has been agreed by both clubs. The latter is a BIG IF.....But most probably J Rod is still on his road to recovery.

Since J Rod last played there's been a new manager, an overhauled squad, consistent reports of him leaving, no extension to his contract that will soon be up and little to no information about his physical recovery -- there's more that plays into his near future than his injury and I think it's safe to say we don't have any real idea of the situation at this time.

And just because he isn't in first team training doesn't mean that his recovery may not be going well, the longer they keep him out this season the fewer teams will be swooping in for him and if Koeman wants him while no one else does, he'll sign a new contract. That's a what-if with absolutely no evidence but again my point is that there can be (and usually is) more to these transfer situations than meets the eye. Whether Mitchell, Poch & co sign him or not will be a choice far more informed than our own so this is a case where I'll trust them either way.

We should stay away from this lad until he's been playing for a good 6 to 9 months again. Too much of a massive gamble. The fact he was meant to be back last November but still hasn't kicked a ball should tell you everything you need to know about going after him.
