my little bro gets the match mag, and whilst the misses and my mum were watching eastenders i thought i'd have a read and i came across an interview titles "a week in my life"

basically its defoe saying what he does on monday tuesday wednesday etc etc

well this is what he said about tuesday "training is much harder on tuesday! we start at 11am so i wake up at about 9:30am and head to the training ground. we finish at 1.30pm, so i go shopping with the misses"

if our players class a 2 and a half hour training session hard then ithink there in for a shock. now i know why we cant perform for 90 mins. thats a disgrace imo

this interview was done before jol got the sack

2 1/2 hours, and he thought that was hard?

Bet they haven't known what's hit them this week.

 About time too!

Much harder? That would indicate a normal training session was well under 2 1/2 hours.

I don't think you're being fair. He may be talking about the effort rather than the period of time. There's a lot you can do in 2.5hrs, hell you could knacker most athletes out long before then. You might think a 5hr training session sounds harder but it might all be stretching and tactics

This is as much worrying in my eyes. What about eating in right time to get you on top for the training? Anyway, sleeping until 9.30, isn`t that just for students?

I think footballclubs could benefit from taking control over players foodhabits and life in general. But that`s just my thought...

I think that's what sets Arsene Wenger apart from the rest. One of the first things he did when he joined the club is got them all to change their diet and eating habits. Every player who talks about that says it benefitted them physically. Except Merson.

They should be there all day studying the game Camaj FFS.

Ferguson and Wenger would never allow a player to state "going out with the missus shopping" in a kids magazine.

It's not about how intense a session is. It doesn't all have to be related to physical exercise. It's about spending so little time in the day on a profession in which you're severely under-performing. If i worked in an office and only spent a couple of hours out of the working day on my job in which i wasn't even close to meeting targets, i'd get the shove.

Well, we tried to emulate that with Gross, and look how far that got us. I'm probably one of a small minority that feels he deserved more of a chance than he actually got. On the other hand, he now bears an alarming resemblance to Ernst Stavro Blofeld. There were a few shots of him on the touchline when Boro played Basel and I wondered where the Persian cat had got to.

Defoe's day actually started at 4.30am when he was two's up on a FIFA 08 game.

In a peverse way, this gives me reason for hope. If the players are on this teenage slacker timetable there's loads of room for improvement, not only physically but also in mental sharpness. Plenty of time for Wendy to explain his new ideas.

The day I was there was a Tuesday. They were training from around 11am to 1pm. Later in the afternoon Jenas, Carrick and Lennon were doing a photo shoot for the new tops. Tough stuff. For the record, Edgar Davids stayed out on the pitch in the rain working with the younger players.

Edgar has today signalled his hope that he could come to England to coach at some point, i think we could do a lot worse than having someone like him back at the club coaching.
