Eredevisie players seem to adapt very well to the Premier League. Eriksen, Bony, Chadli, Pelle, Tadic, Vertonghen, Vorm... I guess the exception is Altidore. I wouldn't mind us trying to sign one or two of the best players from over there every window.
I'm unsure as to why more teams don't snap up Eredivisie talent more often. They tend to kick on well and if the reports are true they never seem to cost all that much either.

It's my second favourite league to watch and there's plenty of other players that have tons of talent and could easily make the jump in my opinion.

Hell, don't forget Saints and the lot they snapped up that hit the ground sprinting upon arriving in the Prem (include Alderweireld to an extent because he hardly played in Spain).

There's a list in another thread (not sure which one) of Eredevisie players failing in the Prem. Afonso Alves is always one that crops up, but you can include Kesman, and more recently De Jong (who plenty on here suggested we should get) at Newcastle.

The point is, there are plenty of failures as well as successes - nothing is guaranteed.

Oh come now, Siem De Jong hasn't "failed", he went straight into the squad for two games and then got a nasty injury that's kept him out ever since. Of course there are successes and failures, but it does seem to me that in the last 5 or 10 years especially, good Eredivisie players have been much more likely to make a successful transition to the PL than good players from other leagues.

Thanks @mill I thought I was going mad.

Also Stekelenburg & Van Wolfswinkel (although neither actually signed from Dutch clubs) were high profile failures.

Of course there are plenty of successes, my point was that it's no guarantee.

Doesn't matter where they come from there's no guarantee for success

i think alfonso alves and dirk kuyt did a lot to damage the reputation of the Dutch league.

(and yes i know kuyt played for Holland in the World Cup, but he has regressed backwards in terms of position from most in demand centre forward in europe to right back.

Sure, but my main point is that they come in cheaply which means your bust is mitigated somewhat by cost and your successes become absolute steals.

No league is going to have some 100% success rate, that's just ridiculous. The Eredivisie is simply a good place to get good talent at a cheap price.

Not sure if this jorno is just bitter or stating facts (i.e. that Boetius isn't ready for a move/life in the EPL) Is anyone on here -who follow Eredivisie closely - able to throw some light on this case?
No doubt he's got quality potential but it's still to early to say whether he's got what it takes to beomce a *star*. Howerve, Spurs don't have the financial means to sit and wait for a player to keep getting better while the "concerning" player's price keep soaring out of Spurs' financial reach...

The Dutch media are not pleased to here that the winger wants a Feyenoord exit this summer.

Yesterday it was reported by Dutch source De Telegraaf that Feyenoord winger Jean-Paul Boetius was all set to quit the club in the summer. The 21-year-old, who the Daily Mail reported was a Tottenham Hotspur arget back in January, has reportedly rejected a deal at the Rotterdam club and is all set to head out of De Kuip this summer.

It is a story that has been met with anger from football pundits in Holland. Boetius is talented, but certainly not one of the big stars at Feyenoord at the moment. He should probably remain in Holland for at least another season before heading abroad and that was indeed the thought of Dutch football pundit Hugo Borst.

He however did not mention Tottenham, but Aston Villa when ranting on the subject. SoccerNews.nl report him as stating:

"How could he after such a **** season open up his mouth.

"He never performs. Cut it out Boetius, be normal man.

"You think to be transferred later for two million. Then you go to sit on the bench at? Aston Villa? Well good."

Borst has a point. Tottenham are said to be keen, while Aston Villa's interest has not been mentioned anywhere other than this rant - but currently Boetius would not start for Villa.

Jack Grealish, Charles N'Zogbia, Gabriel Agbonlahor, Scott Sinclair and Andreas Weimann are all better options than the Feyenoord player.

So if he is not good enough for Villa? How can he be good enough for Tottenham?

If he was on or near the level of Depay he would be starting every game and Feyenoord would be fighting to keep hold of him. I have however liked what I've seen of him but he's not always a regular starter... whether that's due to him still being raw or his reluctance to sign a new contract, I'm not sure.

Would prefer we look at the young English talents in Redmond or Gray before we look at this guy, especially since he seems to have gone off the boil a bit in the last year or so.
