We definately need Champions League form from here on in to get anywhere near the top six, plus a little bit of luck along the way.

Can't see us getting anything from the Emirates on saturday. I've bet my mate that if we win i'll bare my arse in Debenhams in Romford. But the next three games after that are definately winnable.

I also see that we are second in the fair play league, which could also nick us a lucky UEFA spot next year, the teams around us are Liverpool, Arsenal, Man U.

Dearie me. We've won two games in a row and suddenly we're destined for the top 6. Sorry to burst anyone's balloon, but we're still in a relegation scrap. Obviously, what we all want is for Spurs to win as many games as possible and finish as high up the table as possible, but please... let's be realistic. We're only 5 points off relegation. We've been bloody awful this season, and whilst the last two games give us encouragement, we're a long way off Europe.

We have to average a minimum of 2 PPG between now and the end of the season to be in with a sniff of a top six place, I think. In other words, we can drop no more than 21 points out of a possible 63. Preferably, no more than 18. It's certainly do-able, but I'm not going to get my hopes up yet.

Yes. If we went say 13W 4D 4L in the remaining games (43 pts) for a total of 61, we'd almost certainly be in the top six. Not saying it's going to happen but thats the sort of form needed.

How dare you piss on their bonfire.

Europe won't happen through the league.

assuming nobody out of the top 7 wins a domestic cup, 56 points seems to be whats needed for a top 7 finish over the last 5 years. thats 39 points in 21 games - a very tall order. if we play well enough to do that I like our chances in the cups anyway.

We got 35 pts from the same fixtures last year, so whilst it will be tough, it is possible.

it´s largely contingent on our irreplaceable key players

berbs, king, bale, lee, keane, lennon, malbranque, jenas staying (or in king´s and bale´s cases, getting) fit most of the season.

ok so strictly speaking bale malbranque and lee are vying for 2 spots but the rest we really need. can anyone remember the last time we had our definitive first chioce team (or at least the option to pick it)

Last season I don´t think we even had our first choice midfield virtually all season - with Lennon and Jenas out for long periods.

look at arsenal with and without fabregas. we´re just as reliant on our important players.

"Winning away had become a bit of a monkey on our backs this season."

Thanks JJ, I'd forgotten how much I'd enjoyed our away form/success/performances over the previous season(s).

"He's got a monkey on his shoulder
But his eyes are on the ground
He's alright in the city
Because he's high above the ground
He's just..."

bah.

Jenas is out of his mind, he must have got carried away with our first away win, and a clean sheet! Finishing in 8th is stretching it, tho' i will be ecstatic if we get a European place, but doubt it!

If by the end of the season our name is on the first page of the league table I'll be happy considering how awful the first half of this season has been.

We really need to throw everything at winning a trophy starting tomorrow.

I also think the gap is too large to get into Europe but we could make it fun if we hit a decent run of form and can get the defense sorted out or at least playing better than our early season form.

I am still worrying about getting to 40-42 points and clear of relegation the way we have been playing, I just don't want to watch us in the Championship next year. Sure I might be too negative but until King and Rocha come back and prove they are healthy and can turn around all the mistakes on defense I will be more worried about scraping by than getting into Europe next year.

What I find so refreshing is that ,as Gus said, we went to Fratton Park 'to win it ' . The timidity in our management has completely disappeared , love that .

JR has got the team throwing themselves into tackles and closing down very quickly . This is exactly the high tempo game you need to frustrate Arse and stop them playing .

I predict we'll give the Arse at least a run for their money and it'll be close.

Dunno about Europe though...but this motivated JR, Gus led Spurs is quite a beast...

...just ask 'arry

I think it's a bit unfair to talk about timidity. Under Jol we won loads of away games. Yes, he was sometimes culpable of defensive substitutions, but so is Ramos (bringing Tainio on for the last few minutes against Man City). The fact is that since the beginning of the season and the whole Jol/Levy farrago, we've looked nervous and when you're nervous you are unlikely to win games, and you start clinging on to what you've got. The fact that we're winning games is less to do with tactical changes and more to do with restoring some confidence to the team.

Under Jol we won loads of away games..?

Sori sleepy. But would that 'loads' be the 15 from a (im)possible 61 away league wins between 04/05 and his departure? Loads.
