The thing that impressed me most about Tottenham's performance against Juventus was the calmness they demonstrated when they went two goals down after just ten minutes.

I'm not sure Jenas is correct in saying that he thinks Toby wants to leave. I think he wants to get the best possible contract at Tottenham, maybe he's asking more than we are willing/can pay. Am I right in thinking that he's on £50k p/w? (poor soul), if that's true, then it's an embarrassing amount for our most important defender. We can surely put him on the same as whatever Kane gets, as he's as important defensively as Kane is to scoring goals.

Why would any of our players want to leave this magnificent team that's on the verge of trophies and dominating the PL for a very long time.

Rumours a while ago were that Kane has a basic salary plus insane performance bonuses
I would envisage Toby getting the basic but not the bonuses.
I've said this before but if all you want is money you don't refuse to sign contracts for years. That's losing you money every week you don't sign it.

Not sure about any of the comments from Jenas apart from the comments on Mason which I hope are true, so much speculation in the press about Kane, Erickson, Ali, Toby etc.....just speculation and press paper coverage. Let’s wait until the end of the season and next with the new stadium.....my gut feel is that this team is going places, it has a great team spirit, great believe in thier collective capabilities and nobody wants to leave.
We are prime targets for TV pundits, press and other teams fans because we are based on a solid financial foundation and sensible transfer objectives that are opposite to the other top teams in Europe. We have not bought greatness but we may achieve it with our sensible approach. COYS

Sanchez is the future anyways, he has a far greater ceiling than Toby.
Don't get me wrong though I'd love for him to sign up and stay at Spurs but if he's not agreeing terms then we have no choice but to sell.

Sanchez might have a higher ceiling but Toby is at his peak and has more attributes currently. If he were to leave would be a step back.

The same can be said (i.e. winning the CL) about Juve, Real M., Barca, ManC or even Liverpool.
Let's focus on the Juve game at Wembley first.

For me the key point of Jenas's article is this:
I remember speaking to Steven Gerrard about the Champions League a week or so ago and he made the point that the Liverpool team that won the trophy in 2005 definitely weren't the best side in the tournament, but they went on a run of games, things fell into place and they ended up winning it. That could just happen with Spurs.

Tha's it. The rest is secondary.

In the same way Naybet guided a young Ledley at the very beginning of his reign as King of our defence , Sanchez looks much better when he has Toby and Vertogen on either side of him.

I'd prefer we keep things unchanged for at least another season.
