I imagine most deals were hinging on Balde coming off or not. Now its not I guess plan B will be cheaper and we'll have more to spend on other targets.

I would be suprised if Hoffenheim were prepared to sell until after their Champions League qualifying matches against Liverpool.

If that's correct, Toljan would not be available for transfer until the last week of August, and certainly not to provide short term cover for Trippier.

To buy a rb that has already played CL and thus not legible to play in the same tournament for us seems slightly daft to be honest...

Frustrating. I always figured he was our main target as others got nabbed.

Weirdly last night odds were slashed on Cedric to Spurs as a lot of money went there but I have seen no news or articles to indicate a reason unless some itk somewhere missed me. Could be completely nothing and there wasn't much money in the pool to begin with so a fiver would have swayed it.

Players who are good enough, are good enough for teams with a bigger reputations. Wages and fee don't really come into it. It's highly likely that we are second choice at best for each of our targets.

Should have kept Walker then until we had actually signed a replacement. Most other clubs seem to go about this the logical way.

Yeah, regardless of anything else - this is indefensible. I know Poch rates him, but Trips has too many flaws to be an unchallenged starter.
