West Ham

Asked in an interview with Four Four Two if he supported Arsenal as a youngster, the Sunderland striker replied: 'Was I a Gooner as a kid?

'Absolutely not! My local team was West Ham and I used to go and watch them play when I was younger.

'The Arsenal connection came from me saying that I loved watching Ian Wright, but I was not an Arsenal fan. I just loved Wrighty.'

10x worse.

He might need a few games to get match fitness back but you'd expect him, even at his age, to bag quite a few goals.

If Kenny Miller can get into double figures up there whilst in his late 30s then Defoe shouldn't have any problems.

To be fair, Carroll's bouncing ball was on the rise with a few more defenders around him...he also had a swing at it with his right foot.

Did his foot detach from his leg and go flying into the crowd?

I didn't see this anywhere but thought it worth posting (apologies if it shouldn't be in this section of the forum, I didn't want to create a new thread)

He’s one I’d definitely want around the club when he retires, they guy seems so switched on, honest and a great role model, and not just by footballer low standards.

Classy as fuck. love Defoe bought a youth jersey for my niece on EBay and she wears it as a nightie (she’s 4). It’s the purple Puma one she loves it when I wear my Bale #3 one to match up

What a guy Defoe is and was. He truly is a man of his word as well, think he returns to St Lucia and donates a ton of money, even for a footballer, to charitable causes.
For what it’s worth a ‘16-17 Defoe who played for Sunderland would be incredible for us this season. I always wish we could have brought him back to back up or play with Kane but he wanted starts.

I saw him in a bar in London a few years ago and could not help saluting him with our controversial chant! Had a little convo with him and he is a true gentleman.

Very sad situation at Wigan... they are days away from not existing if they don’t raise about 2 million. The fans are calling for any support from any club or football fan to help their cause and save the club themselves.

Yep Defoe is a bloody legend. Us Spurs fans always knew how much of a great guy he is, however the way he was with Bradley Lowery showed everyone else how great he really is.

I couldn’t have been as brave as JD was in handling everything with Bradley, how he didn’t break down every time he was interviewed about it is beyond me. I would have been a mess after that lovely lad passed away.
