Short story.

I went to the UK from Australia. Living in London and ended up being mates with a West Ham supporter. He took me to a game against West Brom (worst game ever).

However I was brought up in a small town in Australia called Tottenham with only 300 people in it (obviously why I support this great club).

We went to the pub next to the ground after the game and my mate says " don't let anyone here know where you are from in Australia. Just say Sydney"

I followed my mates advice, but was filthy that being from a place in Australia could incite so much hatred from them.

No that's what they want you to do. It makes them feel imortant.

I don't care. The pure abuse I received growing up from their fans was abysmal. The constant jabbing - they were even crowing about us losing to Palace in the FA Cup. WTF? They played Blackburn. They're always the first to put the knife in so I absolutely love it when we beat them. Love it.

West Ham fans need to read this part

"Playing Tottenham seems to rile up West Ham like nothing else - something that when I first went to Spurs I didn't really understand.

I still don't in some ways. Tottenham's number one derby will always be Arsenal. If any derby intensified in the years that I was at Spurs, it was the one against Chelsea. But the players never viewed West Ham as one of the big derbies, and that's probably one of the things that infuriates West Ham fans.

I even remember having conversations trying to work out what the West Ham thing was all about. Granted, they were close geographically, but so were Charlton, for example. I didn't get the hatred they were trying to create, which I didn't feel ever materialised from Tottenham's end. The biggest derbies remained Arsenal, followed by Chelsea, and I don't think it's any different now."

I think JJ's comment goes a way to answering why we fucked up tonight, and have done a few times when playing them. We don't see it as important as they do. They're well up for it and we just aren't. Kind of showed tonight...

Perhaps, but let's not forget they haven't lost at home for a long time and they've got results against all the big boys this year.

Yes, but let's also not forget that they're a bunch of ****s.

Clearly, I'm still fed up. :grumpy:

Yeah I'm annoyed too but I didn't expect us to win before hand anyway to be honest. Just remember where we are in the table and look ahead to the next three massive games we've got :) Haven't got time to feel sorry for ourselves!
