I listened to the interview and he sounds quite sincere about what he is saying. I liked his take on the bigger picture of life and footy and he may have done enough to change my opinion of him. What do you think guys? Complete nutter or misunderstood?

Yes, he does come across as quite a nice guy when you hear him talk, depending on your level of immunity to the famed Scouse sense of humour. I'm sure he'll go down a storm in Strangeways.

Since I'm allergic to Barton's "scouse humour", the only funny consequence of Joey's history of serial assaults is that Mikael Silvestre turned down a move to Newcastle because he wasn't prepared to play or even train with the scumbag.
Silvestre makes too many mistakes to be a top-class defender, but there's no doubt he'd have been an upgrade on what the Barcodes currently have.

Glad that he's been refused bail. Not entirely surprising though as he's already on bail for another assault. Wasn't going to take much thinking from the judge to suggest he might offend again was it?

- December 2007: Assault & affray charge in Liverpool (remanded in custody until Jan 3rd).
- May 2007: Assault charge on Man City team mate Dabo (goes to trial Summer 2008).
- March 2007: Assault & affray charge on taxi driver in Liverpool.
- July 2005: Sent home in disgrace from Man City's pre-season tour of Asia and fined two weeks wages after attacking a 15 year old Everton fan in a hotel bar.
- December 2004: Fined 6 weeks wages by Man City after stubbing a cigar out in the eye of a Man City team mate
