Tottenham boss Martin Jol has revealed under-fire Paul Robinson has sacrificed his days off in order to improve his game.

Robinson has been criticised in some quarters this season following some less than convincing performances for club and country.

It is in sharp contrast to last season's form when Robinson was widely recognised as one of the Premiership's best goalkeepers.

Robinson's standards have dipped slightly this term, but Jol has backed the England international's hard work to pay off in the long run.

"He is coming in to work on his day off and that is the difference," said Jol.

"With the number of games we have had, we don't have many of those. I think he is a top sportsman."

I'm always a fan of the view "form is temporary, class is permnent". Robbo has always been a class act in my opinion.

He is suffering from not having King in front of him and if there is truth behind stories of an injured back then that would explain a lot regarding his form.

A few critcisms on this site have said James is better but if Robbo had committed some of the terrible mistakes James has made for club and country in a Spurs they'd be calling to sell James as well. So like always lets support Englands Number 1 during this tough time for him and soon we'll see him back on top form

Dontcallme - spot on mate! Good post.

I myself have slated Robbo recently - but thats more frustration of the fact he is a top keeper, who has been... well...very average border line crap for half a season.

Lets support Robbo and hope he gets back to his awesome self again very soon!

    Englands No1.

Keepers need to have strong minds to do well consistently.
Robbo has doubtless class but just lacks self-confidence at the moment.

Grind out some good results and he will be on track again.
