Martin Jol has denied of a bust-up between himself and Tottenham Hotspur striker Mido.

Reports in the press had suggested that Mido was set to join Portsmouth after falling out with the Spurs boss. Jol's quotes suggest that Mido has been told that he is a back-up for when Dimitar Berbatov is not available for selection.

Jol said: "I told him I wanted him to be productive - you have to be fit and be ready for when Berba is not fit.

"If you change your team sometimes, they want to play but that is management. He wants to play but he is not fit so he can't play."

Mido is a great enigma for me. He wants to play, but once he gets out there doesnt do that much to prove himself. I think he has to forget last season, when his place was practically guaranteed and learn this new reality that has come to greet his arrival. He is a backup striker. albeit a quite expensive one, and thats that. Unfortunately for our youngsters like Dixon (who is injured I think) and Pekhart and Barney, the gaffer likes to field very strong teams (which is good - dont get me wrong), and limits their chanmce to shine like Lennon and Dawson and Huddlestone.

Oh, that felt nice - just thought about that midfield consisting of Young JJ Hud and Lennon - classic.

imo with young,jj,hud, lennon in 5 years we would have at least the second best midfield in the league

Keep Mido I like him. All we ever hear is that he s a problem or he has had a bust-up, yet its all crap from the press. Jol was saying the other week that he played (liverpool I think) when carrying an injury and yeah I admit he didn t play well but He s a good lad and that shows commitment to the squad. Lets hope he stays fit and show some form from last season.
We re the Park Lane, We re the Park Lane We re the Park Lane Tottenham.

Totally counter productive I know, but we should have kept Kanoute. I'm not saying he was wonderful, but he did have a much better temperament than Mido was/is always in better shape. He's been scoring a lot in the Spanish league this season too.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

we shouldn't off sold Kanoute. I feel he is much better than Mido.:-|

We have a large talented squad and when players get their chance in the first team they have to take it and make themselves indespensible. Lennon, Dawson, Chimbonda and Berbatov have done despite strong competition for their place. Other players like Reid, Routledge and Mido failed to do this.

Mido was very good last season and given more opportunities may make himself a dangerous striker in the prem but with Keane, Defoe and Berbatov all ahead of him my guess is unfortunately Mido will depart at the end of the season
