Martin Jol believes Tottenham Hotspur's foreign contingency must continue to adapt to the Premiership, if they are to secure a top six place.
Currently lying seventh in the table, Spurs have lacked consistency this term, winning just once on the road in the league so far.
The replacement of England international Michael Carrick with Ivory Coast midfielder Didier Zokora and French defenders Pascal Chimbonda and Benoit Assou-Ekotto have taken their toll on the team.
But with a 12-match winning streak at White Hart Lane in all competitions, Jol believes there is reason for optimism as the season progresses.
"We've got players like Didier, Benoit and Pascal - who was here for a year luckily and was used to the Premiership. But it will take them a couple of months," Jol explained.
"I can't be too positive because away from home we are still not what we would like and we have to do better than that. For me it's only a matter of getting a bit more physical and a bit more English."
With 18 more matches left to be played, the Dutchman insists Spurs can push on up the league, heading into the New Year.
"Then we will be fine, because we have more than 30 points and we are in the top seven. Everybody said we were struggling at the start of the season, but there are still a lot of clubs struggling for the first five months," he added.
"I felt that our quality will pull us through - because we played Liverpool, Man United and Arsenal away - so I felt it was not a realistic picture."
Liverpool are the next visitors to North London on Saturday, ahead of a tricky trip to Portsmouth on New Year's Day.
