Like this kid quite a bit, would fit in the role I believe we were looking at Berahhino for. In fact their skills are somewhat similar as well.

Jonathan Calleri appears to have confirmed on Twitter that he will be leaving Boca Juniors in the transfer window.
Calleri, 22, has emerged as a target for a number of major teams around Europe, with Chelsea, Inter Milan, Tottenham and Arsenal all credited with an interest in the striker, who has scored ten goals this season.
Boca Juniors are understood to be open to selling a player, and it looks like a move is closer than ever to being completed after the Argentinean tweeted ‘Thankyou for everything and goodbye’ on Tuesday evening.
Inter appear to be the front-runners in the race for Calleri’s signature, but Chelsea’s need for a new striker and superior spending power could see them emerge triumphant.

He was saying goodbye to his manager.
The media has been saying for over a month that he's leaving for a different club everytime but nothing happens.
I think they don't have a single offer and are linking the player in the media to different clubs to get an offer. They even said that Chelsea had signed him one time, and it was all made up

He could work as a backup, he's good at holding the ball, not so much scoring

Just had a look at his record, 21 goals and 11 assists in 50 odd games is pretty decent for a 22 year old, albeit in a weaker league. I can't say I know much about him at all, doubt many on here can, but it seems like the kind of deal we'd be looking at in January. This lad seems to fit the profile of what we're looking for.

I live in Argentina. I do know him. He misses a lot. He's a hard worker though, and could fit with us.
I disagree on weaker league though. Different, not necessarily weaker. Tevez found it harder to play in Argentina for Boca than with Juventus. Lucho Gonzalez and Saviola also had the same problems.

Tim Vickery was on H&J today and apparently the Chairman of Boca have confirmed they are considering a bid from Chelsea. The bid was under £10m

If he goes to Chelsea he'll just waste the next three or four years of his life out on loan.

I apologise for the weaker comment, probably a wrong choice of word! Just don't know enough about it :)

Whilst you'll always be hesitant regarding info from that website, watching the highlights video, he seems to float about and pick up decent positions, but the key was just after the two minute mark, some Pochettino style pressing. Could fit in nicely.

I did read an article that said he'd met with Poch recently, but also saw something yesterday saying Chelsea were favourites, so who knows.

Ultimately, if he's added to the other 3 strong links, any one will give us a boost going into the second half of the season.
I truly cannot begin to guess which one it'll be, or even which one I'd prefer.

Depoitre - big physical presence, Belgian connection should help him settle. Oldest of the 4 though. No experience in this league, but has been scoring in CL, so calibre is there.
Berahino - knows the league, knows a number of our players. Questionable attitude, and after the summer's events, will WBA deal? Does he play better in a pair, or can he play lone?
Dembele - contract running down, so attractive/attainable for Levy, young, powerful, already playing in England. Some suggestions he'll have multiple teams chasing him, how will he take the step up, can he be a line leader?
Calleri - price seems resonance from media reports, Argentinian connection could be a key factor, looks to have good composure. Again, is he a lone striker, and how will he adapt to the move, saw how Lamela struggled?

I still am not sure why people believe HH, he always seems to come out with rubish yet he has a huge amount of dedicated followers who all hang of his every word. I don't think he has ever said anything that has been even remotely true. I do believe Calleri would fit in well with us, but considering he was in Italy recently and Mancini is talking publicly about him, plus he seems to be having some passport issues, I can't see him coming to us. Ultimately I can't help but see this link a primarily one made up by the press, but who knows.
